It’s weird to think I grew up without social media. Up until 10 years ago the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram , Snapchat, Vine, Pinterest and Periscope just didn’t exist. And I have no idea how I spent my spare time because at the moment, every spare second I have is normally used scrolling through my Facebook Feed, liking pictures on Instagram and interacting with people on Twitter. In fact I could probably go as far as to say I’m probably addicted to social media. But that’s OK because most people are. Aren’t they? Here are 9 signs you’re addicted to social media.
- Your social media channels are the last thing you check before bed each night and the first thing you check in the morning
- You only know people by their Twitter handles
- And speaking of Twitter, the phrase ‘Hashtag’ has become a normal part of your conversation ‘hashtag fail, winning, love…’
- You can’t eat your cupcake, cheeky nando’s or breakfast without styling it up to post on Instagram
- Whenever you meet anyone new you instantly go and stalk them on social media to get to know them better
- Every handbag contains a power bank, you can’t run the risk of losing battery when you need to update your social channels
- You have a hard time falling asleep because you’re so used to checking your phone every few minutes for updates
- In fact if you wake up in the middle of the night, you find yourself checking your phone for social media updates – something big might have happened while you were asleep!
- Your friends and family have taken to messaging you on social media as they know they’ll get a quicker response from you
So are you addicted to social media? Let me know of any others I may have forgotten in the comments below.
