Five changes I’m happy I made this year

Merry Musing LOTD

I can’t be alone in wondering how it’s suddenly November? I feel like this year has just flown by. More so than usual. And while I’m excited for Christmas. I’m also not ready for this year to end. As some of you may know, last December I turned 30. And to say the first year of this milestone decade has been life-changing. Would be an understatement.

I’m not sure what I expected by turning 30, but all the good things they tell you will happen. Do. I’ve never felt more confident in who I am as a person. And what I want from life. And this year has reflected that. Which is why I wanted to share with you five changes I’m happy I made this year:

Adding a personal touch to this blog

At the start of this year, I said I wanted to inject more of me into this blog. I wanted to share more lifestyle posts, fashion posts and personal posts. Moving away from a predominately beauty blog was daunting. But I’m so happy I have. I feel like I’ve given this blog a new lease of life as I’m more excited than ever about the content I’m sharing. I’m still not 100% confident in front of the camera, but working with Kaye for the past 10 months has definitely helped to boost my confidence!

Not sweating the small stuff

I’ve always been someone who cares too much. And while that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s pretty pointless to care or get anxious about things that you have no control over. I’ve been that person driving myself nuts wondering what someone thought of me. Playing out different scenarios out in my head for different situations that I had no control over. And I honestly wish I’d made this change years ago. Not sweating the small stuff is liberating!

Stop trying to please everyone

Turning 30 has definitely installed a bit more self-confidence in me. I was never a self-confident twenty-something. How I wish I was though! But now, I feel more self assured with who I am as a person. I know who I am. What I want from life. And what I expect from those that choose to be in my life. You could say I’m pickier now. But in all honestly, I’ve just set some standards that I’m not budging on!

Doing what makes me happy

I know it’s clichéd to say this. But doing what makes me happy has been one of the best changes I’ve made this year. I used to spend far too much time and effort doing things that made other people happy. Thinking that making them happy, would make me happy. And you know what? It didn’t. Not really. But taking charge of my own happiness and doing things that truly make me happy. Even if it’s just spending an hour in bath catching up on TV. Has had such a positive impact on my life.

Stepping out of my comfort zone

Everyone loves their comfort zone right? While a comfort zone is a nice zone to be in. No-one every grows in a comfort zone do they? And this year has definitely seen me step out of mine. I’ve posted content that I would never have had the confidence to do before. I’ve gone to events on my own. And I’ve challenged myself at work in ways that I wouldn’t have done before. So although it can be scary. It’s also worth stepping out of your comfort zone when you can.

And that’s it. Sometimes it’s the little changes that make a big difference. What are the best changes that you’ve made to your life?
