Dressing room updates

Dressing room updates

Now I don’t know about you. But I think we all have that favourite room in our house don’t we? The room we enjoy spending time in. The room that brings a smile to our face every time we enter. And for me that room is my dressing room. Yes it is an indulgent space to have. But for me, it made so much sense to not have my second bedroom as a bedroom. And instead turn it into a space that would be used on a daily basis. But it’s looked the same since it was decorated. And seeing as the number of clothes and shoes I’ve bought has increased *whoops*. I need to add some more storage solutions. So here are my dressing room updates.

Firstly, the obvious change here is that the desk is no longer in the room. When I first designed the room. I saw it as a dressing room/office space. But the reality is I never sat at that desk. I always set my laptop up on my dining room table. Or on the sofa. So having the desk there seemed like a waste of space. But it did provide lots of storage space. As not only could I store my obscene amount of notebooks and stationery in the drawers. But I also had so many boxes and hampers underneath hiding all sorts of things I had no place for.

So getting rid of the desk meant I needed to find something big enough to store what the desk helped to store. Plus all the other things I’d run out of space for. And when I realised the space was just big enough for the Ikea Hemnes unit. It was a no brainer. I have the Hemnes range in my bedroom and like the style and size of the unit. So it was out with the desk and in with the Hemnes.

But then it was back to Ikea to sort out the other problem I had. Which is that I have too many shoes to store. Originally I had six shelves put in for shoe storage in my Pax wardrobes. But seeing as I would have had to introduce a one in one system with my shoes. I decided to buy an additional four shelves instead.

And just like that it feels like a new space. A space that still brings me a lot of joy. And a smile to my face every time I walk into the dressing room. Because as the great Carrier Bradshaw said, ‘I like my money where I can see. Hanging in my wardrobe.’
