Now I don’t know about you. But I’m not planning on doing a lot this January. Yes I will be trying to be a little bit healthier and get out a little bit more. But essentially, I’ll be spending most of my spare time doing what I usually do. Which is watching a LOT of Netflix. And having watched a LOT of Netflix over the festive season. I wanted to share with you all five boxsets to watch this January.
YOU
Now there has been a lot of buzz around this show. And it’s easy to see why. I’m not ashamed to admit that I watched this whole series in a day. See, I told you I spent a lot of time watching Netflix over Christmas! If you’ve not seen it. It centres on a guy – Dan from Gossip Girl. And his obsession for a woman who visits the bookshop he works in. He’s get so obsessed that he’ll literally do ANYTHING for her. I found it gripping, funny and eager to know what was to happen next.
LUTHER
Now I’m massively late to the party with this series. But now I’m watching it from the beginning, I’m hooked. It helps that Idris Elba is in it. But it focuses on a detective who is not above stretching the law to solve a case or save a life. And I’m really happy I’ve still got quite a few series left to binge.
THE INNOCENT MAN
Now if you loved Making a Murderer, then you’ll love this series. It follows a similar format, but the crimes are very different. It’s based on the only non-fiction from John Grisham and includes innocent men who are in prison, despite ‘confessing’ to the crimes they’re charged with.
MINDHUNTER
Now as someone who loves their murder documentaries, this is a great watch. Although, it’s not a documentary it does tell the true story of how the FBI changed their approach with serial killers. Rather than assume that some people are just bad to want to kill someone. They started exploring the psychology behind the killers. And I have to say, it’s so fascinating to watch.
MRS MAISEL
Now this is completely different to anything else I’ve recommended so far. But this is perfect for those who just want something easy and very funny to watch. Set in the 1960’s, the show focuses on Mrs Maisel who finds her perfect life looking a little less perfect once her husband leaves her. It’s hilarious, easy to watch and the costumes are to die for.
