Four reasons why my blogger friends rock

Blogger friends

When I first started blogging almost five years ago. I didn’t initially tell anyone I was doing it. I didn’t tell anyone about my passion. How I was slowly but surely growing a small online community. And why I suddenly needed to buy all the makeup in the world. I kept it to myself like a dirty little secret for about two years. Two years! It’s madness to think I kept such a big part of my life quiet for so long. But I did. There’s something about blogging that made me feel vulnerable. I felt like people would judge me for talking about how one lipstick differed from another. Or how a nude palette would be the perfect summer essential.

I’m not sure embarrassed is the right word. But knowing that people I knew, would be reading words I’d written was a terrifying thought. But once I started telling people about it, the more comfortable I felt about it. And while I’ve never been good at talking about my blog with friends and family – I think it has something to do with not everyone understanding exactly what it is I do. And how I don’t just get ‘free stuff’ sent through to me. Talking about my blog with other bloggers has been a lifeline. So here are four reasons why my blogger friends rock:

They help you

Just like any other friendship, my blogger friends are there to help me when I need help. And I’m there to help them when they need help too. From being their plus one at a blogging event and sharing PR contacts, to writing a guest post for their blog and being their biggest cheerleader. Blogging can be really hard, and it’s really competitive so it’s lovely to know there is someone in your corner to help and support you.

They can be your photographer

Now obviously, I’m friends with my fellow bloggers for more than just their camera services. But it definitely doesn’t hurt when they can snap a pretty decent picture of me when we’re out and about. As a fellow blogger they know what makes a great pic and the kind of shot you’re after. Plus they don’t object to taking a 500 shots to find one good one. Like your boyfriend or other friends might!

They give the best advice

If I have a blogger problem, them my blogging friends are the first people I call. They all have their own specialised knowledge that they’re only too willing to share. From which laptop I should upgrade to, or which phot editing software works best, or how to take clearer blog photos. I find bloggers are some of the friendliest and loveliest bunch of people around. Who are so willing and happy to help a fellow blogger out.

They get it

As a fellow blogger they get it. They’re patient when you want to rearrange the whole table to snap away some pics for Instagram. They get it when you’re complaining about how bad the light has been lately for capturing great photos. They get the frustrations of loosing your blogging mojo. And the excitement you get when you’re full of inspiration and just want to spend the days writing and snapping away. They just get it, because they go through all of it as well.

Let me know in the comments why your friends rock.

As always thank you to Kaye for taking these pictures!
