As I teased a couple of weeks ago. I don’t have a wardrobe in my bedroom. Instead, I’ve turned the second bedroom into a dressing room/office of dreams. And I’m honestly in love with it! I know I’m lucky to have a second room. But all too often, those spare rooms become a dumping ground of things you’re not quite ready to unpack/throw away/organise. And I didn’t want that. I wanted to utilise the space in the best way possible – by turning it into a dressing room and office space.
I mean what more could a girl want? Two huge double wardrobes and a space to store all the shoes I own. Plus, I don’t have to share any of the space with anyone else. Which is perfect, as you’ll be able to tell from the pictures. I don’t have much spare space anyway! The first double wardrobe is a full-length wardrobe which currently houses my dresses and jackets. The middle part is where the shoes and a couple of bags live. And then the second wardrobe is split with a rail at the top and then two drawers, a shoe basket and a pull-out shelf for jewellery.
I designed the wardrobe at Ikea using the PAX system and I’m so pleased with how it turned out. It’s exactly what I wanted and I love that it fits the space perfectly. The only downside is that I don’t have enough space for any more shoes. It’s literally a one in one out system at the moment. And I’m not sure how I feel about that.
But moving onto the desk. Although I don’t work from home often, I do work on this blog, a lot. So I knew I wanted a desk to sit at while I work. And although I’m not in love with this Ikea Alex desk, (it’s definitely not the most stylish) it does serve a purpose. It’s big enough to store my ridiculous notebook collection and the obscene amount of pens, pencils and post-it notes I seem to own. Plus, the top has a convenient flip-up mechanism to store all the ugly wires that come with laptops and desktops etc.
Above the desk, I have my two Vogue prints that I picked up in Lille a couple of years back. I love the vintage feel to these and think they fit in perfectly in the room. Next, to the prints, I have this cute magazine rack I picked up in TK Maxx a couple of week’s back. I’m not a big magazine fan, but I do love Blogosphere magazine. If you’re a fellow blogger and you’ve not read the magazine then you need to – you’re missing out!
And then to tie the room together I have this Armonia Hand-Woven Recycled Cotton Rug which is probably one of the most colourful things I own. But I just think it goes really well in the room.
What are your thoughts on my dressing room/office?
