Having shared with you all the bedroom makeover last week. I thought I’d share with you all this week the living room makeover over. I was pretty lucky in the sense that all my redecorating and renovations happened in my place at the same time. Which is lovely, as it all feels like new! And just like my bedroom, I’m pretty lucky that my living room is pretty big. Which means I had quite a bit of space to fill and play with.
For me, the living room is really the heart of my home. With a kitchen just off the room, this is the room that everyone comes and socialises in. It’s the room I spend the most amount of time in. And the room I wanted to be finished first. And it was. I’m lucky that the room is pretty large. It’s big enough for a sofa, armchair and table and chairs. Which is just as well, as I definitely need all the space.
As the room is pink, I really wanted a sofa that would stand out. Which is why I opted for this navy velvet zinc sofa from DFS. This is the four-seater one, and I’m so happy with it. Not only is it incredibly comfortable, but it’s also the perfect size to sit three comfortably. Next to the couch, is a Next armchair that I’ve had for years. It’s so comfy and I love that the light grey compliments not only the pink but the navy too.
For the walls, I knew I wanted some fun prints. I already had the flamingo (as seen in this post) and banana and palm leaf prints (also from Desenio), which I knew I wanted above the sofa. But the space above the TV looked a little bare for my liking. I knew I wanted something fun, something colourful and something that would fit the space. In the end, I couldn’t resist these travel prints, also from Desenio.
I love the nostalgic feel to the prints. And the colours work well with the pink walls. There are so many of these travel prints on the Desenio site, but in the end, I couldn’t resist the Miami travel poster, the Paris travel poster and the New York travel poster. I went for the 30cm by 40cm size with the matching black frames.
As the room is quite large, I knew I wanted some storage. And rather than big, bulky bookcases, I instead opted for two ladder shelves either side of the TV unit. And I love the symmetry that this creates. I will admit it didn’t take me long to fill it with stuff that will just collect dust, but I love the setup and way it looks.
