Why renting a designer bag could be the way forward

Why renting a designer bag could be the way forward

Now regular readers of this blog will know about my love for a designer handbag. If you don’t, then here is my high-end handbag story. While I do tend to treat myself to one or two new bags a year, (mostly Mulberry, what can I say, I have a type!) The ever-increasing price increases just mean that some designer bags are completely out of reach at the moment. Which is why renting a designer bag could be the way forward.

And that’s exactly what I did last week, with this beautiful Chanel Pink Chevron Mini Flap bag from Bag Butler. Now I think I speak for most of us who love a designer bag when I say that a Chanel is the DREAM bag. And my dream really did come true, thanks to renting. At £165 a week it’s considerably cheaper than the retail price of over £2,200! So if you’re interested in taking a leap with renting. Here are three reasons why renting a designer bag could be the way forward.

IT’S SUSTAINABLE

We can’t deny that we’re living in a more environmentally conscious world. We’re conscious consumers who are concerned with sustainability and recycling. And it doesn’t get more sustainable than renting. Not only does the number of times the item gets used increases, which naturally leads to a reduction in waste. But once the bag has ended it’s renting life. There’s still life in it in the pre-loved market.

FINANCIALLY IT MAKES SENSE

While Chanel might be the DREAM bag, it also comes with a very hefty price. And that price just keeps going up year on year on year. So while Chanel bags do hold their value. They’re also still a huge investment. Like HUGE investment. Which is why financially renting a designer bag makes sense. You can experience the joy that comes from having a beautiful designer bag on your arms. Just at a far more reasonable price point. The beautiful pink Chanel in the pictures is available to rent for just £165 for the week. Which is a fraction of the retail cost of more than £2,200!

TEST A STYLE BEFORE INVESTING

If you’re still keen to invest in your must-have bag. then renting is a great way to almost try before you buy. You can check to see if it’s a style you love. Whether you’ll get as much wear out of it as you think you will. And whether it really does tick all the boxes in real-life. Personally having the pink Chanel for the week has cemented my desire to have one in my collection at some point. I LOVE the mini style and shape. And although I love the colour pink. I think I would go for a more classic colour when it comes time to invest in one for myself. But seeing as the price just goes one way at Chanel, I think it’ll be a while before that dream becomes a reality!

What do you think about renting? Do you believe that renting a designer bag could be the way forward?
