The foundation with a 25,000 person waiting list

The Ordinary Foundation

Now unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, you’re probably aware of the skincare brand The Ordinary from Deciem. They have quite literally taken the beauty world by storm since they launched back in August last year. It seems the world and its mum is aware of this brand. And not surprisingly, everyone wants to get their hands on it. So much so that when they launched their foundation earlier this year, it has a 25,000 person wait list. I know, shocking. But when one of the most exciting skincare companies in the game launches a foundation for a little more than a fiver. The beauty world gets excited. VERY EXCITED!

But if you’re not already aware of Deciem and The Ordinary, then where have you been? One of the main reasons for the brand’s popularity. Despite the amazing products obviously. Is because they pride themselves on honesty and integrity in producing effective skincare without the expensive price tags. Most products in the skincare range cost less than £10 and they’re using effective ingredients like vitamin C, niacinimide and retinoid.

More of their skincare will be appearing on the blog this week – so keep your eyes peeled! But for now, it’s back to the foundations. The ordinary announced back in April that they were launching not one, but two foundations in a whopping 21 shades! A Serum Foundation which offers a medium coverage for a natural lightweight appearance on the skin. And a Coverage Foundation for a heavier but smooth finish that avoids the dreaded cakey look.

Now as mentioned, when The Ordinary announced they were launching these foundations, 25,000 people jumped on a waiting list to bag themselves one. They are really not easy to get! But I was lucky enough to be in their store a week or so ago for the Really Ree Contributor party. Where not only did I get a great overview of the company and their brands. But to my delight, they had also restocked the foundations just for us! Which meant I got to pick up the Serum and Coverage foundation in my shade 1.2P!

And ever since then, these foundations have not left my face! I’m already contemplating trying to order them both again on the basis that once they’re back in stock, I’ll have run out of these. But I have to say, for a foundation that costs less than my lunch, I was seriously impressed with the results. But then I wouldn’t expect anything less from The Ordinary.

I found the Serum Foundation was exactly the type of finish I love to wear on a day to day basis. It’s light in coverage, incredibly moisturising on the skin and gave me the lovely dewy finish I love. It was a little sheer around the eye area, but that’s probably because my dark circles are pretty bad!

Now I have to admit that I didn’t think I’d live the Coverage Foundation as much as the Serum one. Only because I normally go for a lighter finish in the heat but I have to say I loved this foundation just as much. Rather than being a heavy coverage, it’s actually more medium coverage that is buildable. Which is perfect for me. It looks and feels natural on the skin and doesn’t stick to any of my dry areas – hallelujah! It’s also not cakey and is incredibly long wearing. Especially with the primer.

Speaking of the primer, I was lucky enough to be able to pick this up on the night too. And I’m so pleased I did. As someone with oily skin, a primer is a must for me. Especially in the heat! But this primer is ideal for minimising my pores and although it is a mattifying primer, it’s also really hydrating on my skin.

Have you tried anything from The Ordinary yet? What do you think of these foundations?
