Now, I don’t know about you. But I don’t need an excuse to reward myself. I’m a big believer in the importance of treating yourself. It’s a great way to reward all the hard work you’ve put in. As well as a great motivator to ensure you achieve all that you set out to. After all, who doesn’t like celebrating their achievements with something they’ve wanted for a while?
Now in the past, I’ve set myself goals to achieve the next thing and always set a reward as the ‘carrot’ to keep me motivated. For me that started quiet young when my parents would reward me for working hard in my GCSE’s, A Levels and my degree. And I’ve carried that on ever since. Now I reward the big things. Like a new job, a promotion or a bonus at work with new jewellery or a new handbag (my biggest weaknesses). But lately, I’ve also been rewarding myself for the small things too. Like achieving my to-do-list over a weekend, completing my Christmas shopping (yes I have done it all), or just generally achieving what I set out to for the week. Essentially, I now use any excuse to reward myself, because God knows I need a spa day! Or any other reward I’ve promised myself.
I find the reward system is something I’ve kept up with. Because it allows me to say well done to myself. Which I think you’ll agree isn’t something we do that often. Too many of us forget to say well done, or celebrate our own achievements. But we should! Rewarding ourselves with treats allows us to stop and say well done each time we achieve something we’ve worked hard for. For me it definitely helps as a way to reinforce the belief in myself that I can do it and I can achieve what I set out to. Plus it helps to stop, reflect and appreciate what I’ve achieved. Before re-setting for the next goal and reward.
What do you think on the importance of treating yourself?
