The joys of blogging

The joys of blogging

I honestly never thought when I started my blog back in December 2012 that I would enjoy it as much as I do. This little space on the internet has become my biggest passion. I never expected my little creative outlet would grow in what it is today and be read by so many of you. I never imagined getting to this stage and can’t wait to see what the next few years will bring. If you’re thinking of starting a blog then my advice would be go for it. So here are the joys of blogging, according to me.

Freedom

It goes without saying that as it’s my blog I can write about what I want, when I want. It’s my space after all. And that’s one of the best things about blogging. Being able to have that creative freedom to do what feels right. This blog started as a beauty blog reviewing products. It’s now grown into a beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog that covers products reviews, how to posts, top tips and recipes. I feel like I’ve finally found my feet with what I want Merry Musing to be. But that could all change in another two years’ time. After all there are no rules when it comes to blogging, essentially everyone is making it up as they go along, and it’s important to remember that.

Growth

From a personal point of view, it’s amazing to look back through my first posts, or videos, and see how much I’ve grown as a person since then. Not only am I’m in a different space personally and professionally. But my knowledge has grown and developed as well. Through trial and error I now know a whole lot more about photography, lighting and filming. Which are all interests that I didn’t even know I had until I started my blog. I’ve still got a lot to learn and improving those areas will always be something that I’ll spend a lot of time and effort on.

Opportunities

I didn’t start this blog with the sole ambition of blagging myself samples. I think those that do quickly realise that blogging is something that requires passion, dedication and hard work. So if you’re only in it for the freebies you’ll lose interest pretty quickly. While it was never my ambition to work with PRs, since beginning this blog I have had some amazing opportunities to work with some fantastic brands, which has been an added bonus.

Routine

I’m the sort of person that feels a little lost without a routine. I need that structure in my life to help me achieve the things I want to achieve. Like blogging every day. It’s a huge commitment to post seven days a week, while working full time and trying to have some sort of social life with my boyfriend and friends. But with the commitment and routine comes a huge sense of achievement. It is hard work but I wouldn’t want it any other way. I know I might sound obsessed but honestly blogging is my biggest passion. Merry Musing has become a huge part of my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Community

The blogging community is not only a huge place, but it’s also full of lovely amazing people that makes me feel proud to call myself a blogger. I’ve made some lovely friends over the years and although there are some negative out there in the bloggersphere, I’m a big believer in supporting other people’s success and not comparing it to your own. After the only person you’re in competition with is yourself.

So these have been the joys of blogging, according to me anyway. Let me know would be included in your joys of blogging.
