Now, while I appreciate that it’s the middle of January. And unless you’re an influencer who is currently living it up in Dubai. Expensive sandals might not be top of your wish list right now. And trust me, I get you! As you may have seen I bought these beauties at the tail end of last year knowing full well my trip to Dubai was off the table. But it hasn’t stopped me wanting to wear this, and more importantly, share with you all whether I think the Valentino rockstud PVC sandals live up to the hype.
Now let me start with the obvious. These aren’t cheap. I mean, they might be to some people. But I think we can all agree, that spending £350+ on sandals isn’t something that everyone wants to do, or is in a position to do so. I actually got these in the Black Friday sales which meant they were closer to the £280 mark than the £360 retail price. Still expensive. Just slightly less so. Which is all the logic I needed to convince myself that I should definitely add these to my basket before they sold out.
As these arrived in November. And I live in the UK. I’ve yet to wear them anywhere other than from my dressing room to my living room and back again. And even from those short distances I know I’ve made the right decision with my impulsive Black Friday shopping.
I think it’s important to add here that the material of these is rubber. Yes, I did pay almost £300 for rubber sandals but hear me out. Firstly the leather ones are around £550. And while I’m happy to spend that on a bag. I just can’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on shoes. Especially when I am the clumsiest person I know.
The fact that these are rubber actually means they’re more hard-wearing and forgiving than the leather ones. One of the issues I have with sandals like these is that I always scuff the top of them. I’ve got numerous leather ones with scuffs all across the top from where I’ve tripped up wearing them. Now obviously, I can’t control whether I trip up in these ones. but at least when I do, I won’t be tearing any leather.
So do I think the Valentino rockstud PVC sandals live up to the hype? Yes. I do. And that’s because I’ve wanted these for so long. I may not have a beach holiday booked. And they may be the most expensive pair of sandals I own. But the style and colour of these, for me, are timeless classics. So yes, they were worth the hefty price tag. Now please open up the skies so I can wear them on a beach somewhere sipping an ice-cold cocktail.
