Now if you read last week’s blog post, all about the YSL Wallet On Chain, then you’ll know about my love of an across the body bag. And one of my all time dream bags is the Chanel WOC, or Chanel Wallet On Chain if we’re using it’s full name. I initially wanted to buy this bag as a treat to myself for turning 30. Which was almost fur years ago. Well, I had slightly more important things to spend my money on at the time. Hello flat! So it wasn’t meant to be. But fast forward four years and here we are. So what are my thoughts on the Chanel Wallet On Chain?
Well this might be one of my most used and versatile bags that I own. It suits pretty much every occasion from a quick pop to the shops to an evening out. It’s great for winter and or summer and looks as great with a summer dress on holiday, as it does with a chunky knit and boots in winter. It’s also a great second bag. You know when you’re already carrying a bigger bag. Maybe it’s a laptop case for work. Or a wheelie suitcase in the airport. The Chanel Wallet On Chain is a great second bag that you can just wear across the body to keep all your essentials in and within easy reach.
It can also fit a surprising amount in it. I have the Handbag Angles enhancer, which means that when storing my bag, it keeps it shape. But this also helps with opening it up so you can see how much you can store in it. I personally fin I can keep pretty much the same as I do in the YSL Wallet on Chain. So phone, keys, cards, small makeup bits etc.
The only real differences between the Chanel Wallet On Chain and the YSL Wallet On Chain is the chain. Firstly, the YSL chain is completely removable. You can detach it to use the bag as a clutch for example. With the Chanel one you can’t. You can obviously tuck it in to use it a clutch so it’s really not a problem. The other difference is the length of the chain. The Chanel chain is significantly longer. Which means I find myself having to shorten it by looping the chain inside the bag. Whereas I find the YSL chain, the perfect length for an across the body bag.
The other obvious difference is the price. When I was looking four years ago at the Chanel, the prices were about £1,600, today that same bag is £2,190. Gotta love those price increase… Whereas the YSL retails for just over £1,100. It’s still a lot of money for a small bag, but it’s pretty much half the price for the same style bag.
So that’s my review of the Chanel Wallet On Chain. What are your thoughts on this bag? Are you a fan?
