It seems a girl can never have too many mascara’s, or at least that’s what I think anyway. From Benefit to Barry M I’ve tried a lot of mascaras but have never tried an Illamasqua one. To me Illamasqua has always been a brand that I’ve associated with dramatic, colourful makeup made for performances. But my opinion of them has changed since I ordered the Selfridges beauty box last month.
In the box was the Illamasqua ‘masquaura’ in raven. Which is very apt for the dark and intense lashes that the wand creates. If you’re looking for a subtle lash effect then this mascara is not for you. But if you’re after a little length and a lot of drama then look no further.
Although the wand is a little bigger than I prefer, the bristles work well at transforming the lashes for a volumised look. The formula is a little surprising, not only is it incredibly moisturising, but it also has a built in lash conditioner. I can’t say I’ve used many mascaras with a lash conditioner but having used this for a few weeks now, I’ve noticed that my lashes do feel softer. Which can only be a good thing.
When using this ‘masquaura’ I found that one coat was normally enough to add a little extra drama to the lashes and that it lasts well throughout the day with no flaking. All in all I’m very impressed with the mascara.
Have you tried this mascara before? What’s your favourite mascara brand?

Ooooo, that looks lovely. I have to admit I’ve never hear of Illamasqua before. It’s been a long time since I lived in London and frequented Selfridges. I’ve just got a new MAC one to replace my usual L’Oreal and I’ve been delighted with it. The lash conditioner sounds rather good!
You can’t go wrong with a MAC or L’Oreal mascara 🙂 x
I have brow envy never mind mascara envy right now x
Haha, thank you x
What a lovely mascara , you have done your eyes beautifully.
Thank you x
I really like the look of this. I love a good mascara, and like that you say this is very moisturising too.
Thank you, it has a lash conditioner that makes it moisturising x
