What to include in a media kit

What to include in a media kit

So you’ve decided it’s time to start a media kit. Now comes the tough bit. What do you want to include in it? Not everyone has a media kit and some people prefer not to use one. If you’re not sure what one is, it’s basically a document that you can use to spend to brands. It includes information about you, your blog and what you could offer brands who want to work with you.

Now I’m not an expert and some people will choose to include different pieces of information, this is just a summary of what I have in my media kit.

Start with the basics and include a short introduction to who you are, and  what you blog about. You can include how long you’ve been blogging, if you have a blog schedule and any awards you’ve won or been nominated for.

Next up is one of the most important things to include is your media kit – your stats. Ultimately brands will want to know the potential reach of any collaboration work. I include my social media following, along with blog stats such as how many people visit my site each month. Make sure you’re using something like Google analytics to get an accurate snapshot.

Finally include information on previous brands you’ve worked with. Anything from product reviews to competitions. This helps to show a brand what you can offer them and let them know how much you charge for things like sponsored posts.

Some people choose to get their media kits professionally designed, some people choose to design it themselves. Whatever you choose just ensure that you update it regularly with your stats and previous brand collaboration work.

I hope you’ve found this post useful. Let me know of anything else that you would include in a media kit.

Thank you for this – I don’t have a media kit yet but I know it’s something I’ll need to get on with soon.
