My experience with a walk in hairdressers

Hairdressers

As you may have already guessed. One of the things I love most about Christmas is the excuse to well and truly pamper yourself. Yes I love spending time with friends and family, eating my weight in Quality Street and drinking Prosecco by the bucket load. But I do also love the fact that Christmas is the time to treat yourself. And treating myself to a good pamper is what I love to do most.

So when I was offered the chance to come and visit a new salon in my local town how could I resist? Well I could have. It was with Supercuts. And as I’m sure some of you are aware, they haven’t had the best press lately. In fact, I was almost put off from the bad pictures and experiences I’d read online. But as someone who has had a TERRIBLE haircut and experience in an well known and very expensive establishment, while also having a FABULOUS haircut at a cheap at chips place. I know that you can’t judge a brand one someone else’s experience. As it really is down to the Stylist your get as to whether you’ll get a great cut or a bad one.

So last week I headed off to my local branch of Supercuts to see whether my experience would be similar to those I’d read online. Or whether they’d surprise me. And spoiler alrert, but I’m pleased to say they really surprised me! For those of you who may not realise it, Supercuts is a franchise that offers a small number of bookings alongside a walk in service. Which personally is a brilliant idea. While I always try and scheduled things like a cut and colour in, as they can take hours. It’s also great to know that if I haven’t had a chance to book in on a Saturday, they could still fit me in.

Hairdressers

There’s currently only two Stylists in the Stevenage Supercuts, but both of them were lovely with years of experience in hairdressing between them. My Stylist seemed to understand exactly what I wanted from the start and did a brilliant job of matching my, much faded, highlights. And generally making the experience as pleasant and easy as possible. She recommended a treatment, which my dry locks were in need of, and even a week and a half later my hair is still feeling super soft.

Hairdressers

When it came to the cut, I just wanted a refresh of my previous cut. My previous style seemed to have grown out and my hair just felt like it was hanging there. Instantly she recommended chopping in some layers to add some texture and frame my face – which I love.

While I understand why some people might be put off trying Supercuts, I think it really comes down to the hairdresser as to whether you’ll have a bad experience or not. For me, I had a fab hairdresser who I would definitely go and see again. In fact, I love what she did to my hair, more than what my usual, and pretty expensive, hairdresser does.

What do you think of walk in hairdressers like Supercuts?

I have a hairdresser I’m very loyal to, but I’d happily pop into a Supercuts for a style – I might head in for a blowdry soon.

I have heard the bad press about Supercuts as well, however, I also believe it really is down to the stylist you get. No matter the establishment you need to find a good stylist you love, and then stick with that stylist!

I think walk ins can be great. However I’ve used supercuts before, and although the hair was ok, it wasn’t the best and they were so rude. Glad you had a good experience, it put me off trying others but believe they’re not all the same x

I haven’t tried Supercuts before but I think there is one near me in the Metrocentre. I love the idea of a walk in hairdressers for those who are busy and can’t always commit to a set appointment time xxx

I haven’t been to supercuts before but it’s nice to know that people are having good experiences again as people tend to only speak of the negatives x

Your hair looks lovely! Im incredibly picky about how cuts my hair due to a number of inexperienced stylists not knowing how to deal with curly hair. I actually had a cut in I don’t know how long… I do love Aveda but they are too expensive! Maybe treat myself at Christmas tho

I think your hair looks great! I remember having the same worry a few months ago. Supercuts were obviously very cheap but the reviews were so bad for my local one that I ended up paying a completely stupid amount to have it done at Toni & Guy. To be fair, I LOVED my haircut from T&G, but I don’t actually think a haircut from Supercuts would have been any worse and will be trying them next time!

I have seen the bad press too and sometimes you just have to go with your gut. I have never been to a Supercuts as there isnt one near me and I go to my local salon where I have now gone for over 8 years x

I’ve been to Supercuts before and loved my cut! I don’t have a frequent hairdresser I visit.
