Glamping in Fife | The Catchpenny Safari Lodge Experience

Glamping in Fife

Now I don’t know about you. But my experience of Scotland is pretty limited. Aside from a couple of trips to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival, or the odd jaunt to Glasgow for work, it’s fair to say I’ve really not experience all that Scotland has to offer. But that changed a couple of weeks ago when I got the chance to experience glamping in Fife.

I have to admit, for me the idea of a break away normally involves sun, sea and sand. As someone who has visited a fair few European beach resorts over the decades, it doesn’t feel like a holiday unless I board a plane with far too many bikinis packed in my luggage. So it’s fair to say that camping in Scotland was definitely a new experience!

But what an experience it was! Along with seven other bloggers, I got the chance to camp, well really glamp, in one of the new luxury safari lodges right on the Fife Coastal Path. Situated between the pretty fishing villages of Elie and St Monans, the lodges definitely offer a home-from-home glamping experience. With real beds, a log burning stove as well as a hot shower, it was hands down the best camping experience I’ve ever had.

But I think what made it all the more special was the view. You really couldn’t get closer to the sea if you tried. As the lodges are based on the Fife Coastal Path, you get to experience a beautiful view, right on your doorstep. And I mean right on the doorstep. All you need to do is open up the door of the tent, and there is the sea. Plus if you’re lucky, you’ll get to spot the pod of dolphins that live just off the coast.

We didn’t get to spot the dolphins, but we did have an amazing time none the less. I probably wasn’t prepared for the cold, but nothing three hot water bottles in the bed couldn’t fix! In fact, I was in the box bed in the living room area, which was incredibly cosy. And a lot larger than a regular box bed. In fact, both beds were king sized, with an additional two single beds in the other room. It’s the perfect size for a week or weekend away with your family or friends. And just an hour outside of Edinburgh, it’s pretty easy to get to as well.

I’ve only been to Scotland once, and I loved it so much that I really want to see more of the country. Fife was already on my list, but I’m definitely bookmarking this for the future!

I really like glamping as you get the camping vibe but don’t need to pack loads of stuff! This looks really pretty – the decor is lovely. And the views, wow!

This looks perfect for me. I hate camping with a passion but this would suit me fine.

I have always hated camping and had some terrible experiences of it when I was younger but oh my god does this look fancy and like a lovely break. Maybe I should give glamping a go as I had pretty much written it off in line with camping

I haven’t myself explored all of Scotland except for Edinburgh. However, I’d definitely like to try glamping. Do you think it’s feasible for families with toddlers?

It looks absolutely beautiful there! The glamping seems so luxe and such a nice place to spend your stay. That is one breathtaking sunset.

I tell you something strange: I’ve never been to Scotland – but I most definitely would like to visit. This looks like a perfect place to stay – loved your photos.
