What to do when you’ve fallen out of love with blogging

What to do when you've fallen out of love with blogging

Blogging is hard work. Whether you’ve had your blog for six months or six years it’s easy to fall out of love with blogging. As bloggers we put ourselves under endless pressure to post new content, be active on social media and take pinterest worthy pictures, and sometimes it can feel like more like a chore than a passion. But I think everyone goes through that. I know I certainly have over the last two and a half years of blogging. But in that time I’ve also learnt there are certain things to help you back in love with your blog and blogging.

Take a break

This might be an obvious point but sometimes taking a day, week or month away from blogging is all you need to reignite your passion for your blog. If you’re like me and you post everyday then taking a week off could sound daunting but it really isn’t. Your readers won’t mind if you need to take a break to recoup and rethink about what you want from your blog. I’ve done this when I really didn’t feel like blogging and I’d lost all my blogging motivation. You could continue to post, even though you’re heart isn’t in it. But I always feel that it’s unfair to you and your readers.

Try something new

Taking a break also helps to revaluate what you want from your blog and blogging. You could change your schedule, so that you post on different days, or you could create a new blog series. Or It could be that you’ve fallen out of love with blogging because fashion used to be your passion but now it’s food and you’re not sure you can combine both on your blog. One of the best things about blogging is that there are no rules. So mix it up, write about what you’re passionate about. It could be as diverse as football and fashion but it’s your blog so you can do what you like.

Change your blog layout

This is a little drastic but when I’ve fallen out of love with my blog before it was because of the design. I was uninspired by the layout and just uninspired in general. A new design helped to me to fall back in love with blogging, but even just changing your display picture or designing a new header can help you fall back in love with your blog. I also find that I can get into a bit of style rut when it comes to my blog pictures. Especially if I’ve been using the same background and props for my images. So even just change up your pictures with a new background, props or angles can help you fall back in love with your blog.

Do you have any tips on what to do when you’ve fallen out of love with blogging?

Good tips 🙂 Mine would be to make sure your blogs grows with you. Interests and passions change, we gain new life experiences and grow as people. If you’re stuck in a rut make sure your blog is still representing you as a person.

I tend to cluster blog. Do a post every day for half the week and none for a few days as I find it too much to do it every day. Some fab tips here especially like changing the layout its a bit like moving your furniture around when your bored off a room .
