Five easy ways to grow your blog

If you’re anything like me then you spend a lot of time working on your blog. From taking pictures and editing them, to writing and planning new content, I dedicate most of my spare time on my little space on the internet. And while I didn’t start the blog with the intention of attracting thousands of readers, now that’s it’s grown, readers mean all the more to me and make the time and effort I put in worthwhile. But as the number of blogs have grown over the years, it’s harder than ever to get noticed.

So how can you make your blog grow? Well that’s the billion dollar question. While there is no easy win to increasing your blog traffic and readership base there are a few things that we could all to do make our blogs grow. So here are my five easy ways to grow your blog.

Create readable content

Now it probably goes without saying that you need to create great content to keep people coming back to your blog. But I believe you also need to create readable content. So write about the kind of things you would want to read about. And be consistent with your content so your readers know what to expect from you. If you post three times a week then stick to the schedule so that you’re readers know when to check back for fresh new posts. Once you’ve produced your great content, don’t forget to promote it…

Get social

This is where the promotion comes in. It’s hard to imagine how blogging was before the arrival of social media. But I’m sure I’m not alone in understanding the importance of it. Social media helps to not only direct people back to your blog, but also helps to build your ‘brand’. And after all isn’t that what growing your blog is all about, creating a brand and building it? I have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube account that I use to help grow my blog. I try to post different content on the different platforms and know which ones help to drive traffic back to my blog.

Stop! Collaborate and listen

Brand collaborations are a great way of growing your blog.  I’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing brands and feel that this is a great way to get exposure for your blog. Normally brands will share the collaboration on their own social media channels which is a great way to share your blog with people who will be interested in the same thing.

Another way to collaborate is with fellow bloggers, and this is an area I really want to move into. Collaborations with other bloggers or vloggers are a great way to grow your audience and introduce you and your blog to new people. If anyone would like to collaborate with me, please let me know.

Network

Networking is a great way of growing your blog and readership figures. Not all networking has to happen face to face, networking can happen online as well. There are so many twitter chats taking place every week and these are a great way to get your blog out there for other people to discover and also discover some new blogs yourself.

Blogging events and PR launches are another great way to network, not only with other bloggers, but with brands as well. It can be difficult to attend all these, especially if you work full time or don’t live close to London, but if you can, you should definitely try and attend them.

Don’t stop believing

I think the key thing to remember when growing your blog is that there is no substitute for hard work. You need to keep producing great content, fabulous pictures, be engaged in the community and network with as many bloggers and brands as you can. Blogging is competitive, much more so than it was a few years ago, so don’t forget to be patient, keep blogging and make sure you’re having fun along the way.

So these have been my five easy ways to grow your blog, let me know in the comments below if you found these tips useful and what your tips are for growing your blog.

What a helpful post, I’ve recently decided to take a break from blogging. Just because I’ve lost that motivation, I’m already missing it but I just don’t have the photos or the content. But I’m taking your post as some inspiration and work a little more on posts on my next day off!

I think we can all feel like that and taking a break is a good thing, especially if it helps to motivate you back into blogging x
