Five shows to binge-watch this week

*This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link!*

Now I don’t know about you, but given the fact that we’re in the middle of January. And in a global pandemic. What else is there really to do other than binge-watch another series on Netflix? Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway. So, if like me, you feel like you’ve watched everything. Here are five shows to binge-watch this week.

BRIDGERTON

Now in case you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you would have heard of this incredibly popular Netflix show. And if you haven’t yet watched it. You need to! It’s a perfect mix of Gossip Girl meets Jane Austin.

The costumes are beautiful, the cinematography is stunning, and the guys are ridiculously handsome. What more could you want? It’s an easy watch that makes you dream of a simpler, although not always better, time.

SURVIVING DEATH

On a completely different level, but also on Netflix, is this show. Now, if like me, you’re curious about what might happen after death. Aren’t we all? Then this might be the show for you.

It’s a six-part series that explores mediumship, reincarnation, messages from the dead, and those who have had near-death experiences. With interviews from those who have experienced these, along with the brainy neuroscientists who can neither confirm nor deny that these events happen, it’s definitely worth a watch. Let me know if the experiences give you goosebumps too.

THE JINX: THE LIFE AND DEATHS OF ROBERT DURST

Now, if like me, you love a good true crime documentary, but feel like you might have seen them all. Then give this a go… it’s a WILD ride. It follows the case and extraordinary story of a New York real estate heir and a murder he’s charged with in Texas. it then unravels to reveal that he might have been involved in more than one death in the past.

There are a lot of twists and turns with this story. And it leaves you at times completely baffled. But it’s a must-watch if you love true crime as much as me. This one isn’t on Netflix. But I found it on Sky.

DIRTY MONEY

Now, this is another Netflix series, but one that you should absolutely add to your watch list. If you like documentaries that follow real-life events. And in particular stories of scandal, corporate greed and corruption in business, then this is the show for you.

One of my personal favourites was the episode on Jarrad Kushner – the son in law of Donald Trump – and his actions as the head of his father’s real estate company. Be prepared to hate the Trump family even more when you realise who they let into their family.

DEATH TO 2020

Now, this technically isn’t a show to binge-watch. As it’s a one-off. But if your humour is as dark as mine, then this show will brighten up your day. It’s a British mockumentary from the creators of Black Mirror and features a series of fictional characters (played by some of your favourite actors – think Samuel L Jackson and Hugh Grant) as they discuss the US and UK events of 2020.

Of course, there is reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the US presidential election. It’s well worth a watch if you just want to look back on the year that was, and just laugh at how much happened.

So these have been my pick of the five shows to binge-watch this week. What are you binge-watching at the moment?
