Four drugstore primers that are worth the extra step

When it comes to applying makeup. I really struggle for time in the week. At the weekend I have all the time in the world to sit and spend a good half hour applying my makeup. But in the week? To say I’m rushed is an understatement. Which is why I like products that are quick and easy to apply. And if I can miss out a step I will. But one of the steps I’ll never miss out is applying primer. I have oily skin that requires a good primer to ensure my makeup doesn’t slide off my face by lunchtime. Which is why I want to share with you all the four drugtstore primers that are worth the extra step.

MUA Professional Wonder Primer £5

MUA Professional Wonder Primer

Now I have to start by saying that this primer costs £5. Which is nuts right? I spend more than this on my lunch most days. But that feels like a waste really compared to this. As for £5 this MUA Primer is pretty impressive! It’s lovely to wear underneath your makeup as it helps to create a balanced base. Or you can wear it on it’s own on bare skin for a fresh and glowy look.

Rimmel #Insta Fix and Go Setting Spray Universal £6.99

Rimmel #Insta Fix and Go Setting Spray Universal

I’ve been using the spray for months now and I love it. Mainly because this Rimmel spray acts as a primer and a setting spray in one. Plus it’s great to use in the heat. As you can spray it throughout the day to help revitalise and refresh your makeup to ensure it does not budge.

KIKO Skin Tone Face Base £7.90

KIKO Skin Tone Face Base

I don’t know about you, but I really struggle to walk into KIKO without picking up at least one thing. I can’t help it. And this is the newest KIKO addition to my dressing table. I love it because Skin Tone is more than just a primer. It has a green tint that works to conceal and reduce any redness while also evening out your complexion before applying makeup.

Gosh Overnight Primer Oil Essence £14.49

Gosh Overnight Primer Oil Essence

Although this is a primer. You don’t actually need to apply this just before you apply makeup. Instead you apply it before bed. I know, weird right? But it works! The Overnight Primer Oil Essence is a hybrid between makeup and skincare. And by using the oil at night, you wake up with primed, moisturised and luminous skin ready for makeup.

Do you use a primer? Which is your favourite one to use?

I don’t use a primer but I keep meaning to look into getting one, I like the idea of the GOSH overnight primer, that is probably something I could get used to using and one less thing to use in a morning as well.

I’m not a user of primer, although have tried it in the past. I wasn’t keen on the brand I had, as it felt like an extra layer I didn’t need. The GOSH one actually sounds more like it, and less like a chore. Always nice to have some good recommendations on products I’m not sure of.

I haven’t used primer much, but my best friend keeps encouraging me to. I really like the sound of the Overnight Primer Oil Essence. It would be perfect for me if I could apply it as part of my night time routine. x

I haven’t tried any of these. Usually I use too faced hangover primer, or a smashbox one but I have a GOSH illuminated primer which I love and some Barry M corrector primer fluids which are also really good x

I’ve been struggling to find a drugstore primer that I love. I like the Rimmel one in a white tube with a blue tub but I keep getting the Laura Mercier one in beauty boxes but can’t justify buying a full size. I think I might buy the Rimmel one you’ve featured as I like the idea of a spray and the 2in1 element x

This came at such a good time because I am just about to run out of my primer, definitely think I might pick up one if not a couple of these x

I didn’t know MUA had primers too, I just love their lipsticks and definitely want to give the primer a go though I rarely wear makeup

Can you believe I haven’t tried any of these primers before? I’m definitely going to have to go and pick a couple out to test out soon as I’m getting down my primer collection really quickly at the mo!

My favourite primer is Smashbox Photofinish, but I have been looking for a drugstore alternative as I’ve recently run out. x
