Five high-end brands to try in 2017

high-end brands to try

When it comes to makeup, there is nothing nicer then walking into a Department store and picking up a high-end treat or two. While drugstore makeup is great, and there are some amazing drugstore brands. There’s something pretty special about high-end makeup. I’m not sure if it’s the packaging or the quality, but high-end makeup is definitely one of my weaknesses. And if you’re thinking about which high-end brands to try this year, then here are top five:

Charlotte Tilbury

high-end brands to try

As the makeup maestro behind Kate Moss’s iconic smoky eye looks, this brand had been on my radar ever since it was launched back in 2013. Not only are Charlotte Tilbury’s products beautifully packaged but the quality is outstanding. As someone who has oily lids, eye primer is not just my friend, it’s a necessity. But when using her Colour Chameleon Colour-Morphing Eyeshadow Pencils, I have no need for the primer. Using these ensures my eyeshadow stays in place all day long. You do pay more for her products, but they are definitely worth it.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Surreal Light

high-end brands to try

I will admit that one of the major factors of buying this palette, was how beautiful it is. You just don’t get this kind of packaging with drugstore products. But it’s not just the marble design that attracted me to this. Having heard so much about how amazing their palettes are, I knew I had to try one for myself. And I am not disappointed. With five shades including a finishing powder, bronzer, blush and highlighter, all of them are just lovely to wear on the skin.

Lancôme Rouge Lipstick

When it comes to lipsticks, I used to just use regular drugstore brands. Not thinking I needed to spend any extra money on the higher-end alternatives. But having tried quite a few high-end brands now, I can see why it’s worth spending the extra! Not only does this Lancôme last so well throughout the day, but it also survives the numerous food and drink breaks I have in a day. Plus the colour is just gorgeous and doesn’t smudge once it’s applied.

Giorgio Armani Foundation

high-end brands to try

This is a relatively new addition to my makeup collection. And I have no idea why it took me so long to try this foundation – it’s just gorgeous! It’s incredibly lightweight to wear on the skin, but is heavy enough to cover all my blemishes and even out my skin tone. It honestly feels just like a second skin. It also blends beautifully, don’t cake and lasts really well throughout the whole day. Plus the colour match is like my skin, just better!

Nars Creamy Concealer

high-end brands to try

As someone with pretty bad dark circles, I’m familiar with concealers. In fact I would say I’ve tried most of the current ones on the market. And out of all the ones I’ve tried, this is by far my favourite high-end version. It’s creamy, blends really well into the skin and doesn’t sit in any fine lines. Plus it actually covers my dark circles leaving my skin looking brighter and more awake. What more do you want from a concealer?

What are your favourite high-end brands to try?

The Nars concealer sounds great especially if it can hide my dark circles under my eyes and blends in well.
