Keeping organised and inspired

Keeping organised and inspired

When it comes to blogging keeping organised and inspired can be tough. You’re juggling a job, school work, friends, family, boyfriends or just life in general, so finding time to blog can be hard. And then when you’ve found the time, there is nothing more frustrating than having no idea what to blog out. This is why I wanted to share this post with you all and some of my tips on keeping organised and inspired when it comes to blogging.

Take a look around

Inspiration isn’t handed to us on a plate unfortunately, you need to get out and get inspired. This could be through reading magazines, books and other blogs or spending time and talking to friends and family. Even a day out can be the subject of a blog post or two (outfit of the day, restaurant review, top 5 things to see and do) so get out and get inspired.

I find magazines, books and blogs a hotbed of inspiration, from photography to future content ideas. High end glossy magazines are full of amazing pictures, so take inspiration from how they lay out their product or clothing shots. Plus you who doesn’t like reading through a beautiful magazine and getting to call it work? Blogs and the internet in general are also full of amazing ideas as well. I spend so much of my free time reading other people’s blogs. I love it and it’s a great way to get inspired. You shouldn’t be copying what someone else is doing but by all means be inspired by it. And finally, talking to friends and family can also be inspiring. From what they’re looking forward to, what trends they’re following or their beauty problems. All of these can be turned into blog posts. In fact my whole blogging advice series started because a friend was seeking advice for her blog.

Write it down

Once you’ve got a list of future blog posts ideas, write them down. Personally, I find that having a notebook full of ideas for future blog posts or videos means that I’ve always got something to write about. Every time I have a new idea, I write it down. Then when I’m looking for ideas on what to write about on the blog, I just open the notebook and pick an idea. I also keep ideas on my phone for when I’m out and about. I find that having ideas written down helps to act as a to-do list, and also ensure that no idea is forgotten about.

Schedule schedule schedule

So you’ve got your list of blog post ideas, now is the time to write your posts and plan your photography. As I’ve mentioned before, I keep a big to-do list for my blog. Everything from what pictures I need to take to what posts I need to write is on the list. Once it’s all written down it’s easier for me to see what needs to be done and start ticking the jobs off my list. It also means I can plan when to publish blog posts as well. I tend to work a week in advance so I spend my weekends planning content for the following week. This is the biggest time saver for me. I have no idea how people manage to keep on top of blogging without scheduling their content.

As I’ve mentioned before, I usually blog at weekends which gives me two days to try and get as much done as possible for the following week. I normally start with the pictures on either a Saturday or Sunday morning. Because I prefer to use natural lighting, I have to seize the sunlight and take pictures as soon as the light is good enough. If the light is pretty bad for the whole day, then I’ll try and spend time writing the content and scheduling when the post will go live. So that as soon as I can, I can take the pictures, edit them and add them to the post.

So these have been my tips on keeping organised and inspired when it comes to blogging. I hope you found these useful, let me know in the comments section below how you stay organised and inspired for blogging.

I take all of my blog photography on the weekends too and plan my posts and then I edit the photographs and write the posts in the evenings. To do lists are a life saver xx

Some great tips for organising yourself as a blogger. I also make a note of any linkies I plan to join up with and their themes and deadlines, as a reminder.

I love your ideas, they seem simple but it’s really hard to stick to them, isn’t it! Especially writing all the ideas down can be quite tricky. I try to write everything into my phone, this way I dont have to worry about carrying my diary at all times. Is that Chloe perfume by the way? My favorite!

I always keep a running list of recipe ideas! Then when I’m feeling uninspired I just look through it and the inspiration comes back! 🙂
