Melt proof primers

Melt proof primers

Seeing as summer is well and truly here and the sunshine is making a more regular appearance, I thought I’d share with you all my top three melt proof primers to ensure you’re makeup in staying in place all day, regardless of how hot it gets.

I know some people choose to skip on the primer part of their makeup routine when the weather is warm, but personally for me, I find having that extra layer helps my foundation stay put all day and not slide off in the heat.

Body Shop Instablur

Since it’s launch last year this has been one of my go to primers. Especially in the heat. The combination of mattifying powders, particles and vitamin E cream means that this primer doesn’t just help to hold my makeup in place, it’s also great for the skin. Used on it’s own it helps to blur your skin’s imperfections – veins, blemishes, redness and discolouration, and used under makeup, it provides a long lasing base that keeps shine at bay for a good 12 hours.

Sleek Makeup Control and Shine Prime

Another summer favourite is this primer from Sleek Makeup. Like most primers out there, the Control Shine and Prime is silicone based, which means it’ll act as a barrier between your skin and the heat. I find the lightweight formula helps to minimise the appearance of my pores and provide a lovely even base that controls shine for an all day matte finish.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Mattifying Primer

This is the one I’ve been using the most lately, as I love the results I get when combining this with the L’Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation. The lightweight, non greasy formula of the primer works by mattifying your skin before you start to apply your makeup. It leaves your skin looking and feeling soft without drying out your complexion – which is exactly what I want from a primer.

Have you tired any of these primers before? What’s your favourite primer for creating melt proof makeup looks?

I need to pop into The Body Shop as there are quite a few products I’m keen to try at the moment, including Instablur.

Greaat post! I am in serious need of a decent primer to stop my face from sliding off as soon as the sun comes out! At the moment I’ve got one from Clinique and one from Benefit and they’re both alright though I’m not really sure what to look for in a good primer!

I definitely need these. I sometimes feel like my make-up is slipping off my face in the summer. It’s gross.

Gorgeous picks, I’ve heard so many things about the Body Shop primer and I’m definitely tempted to pick this up 🙂 I love that this also helps blurs skin imperfections, can’t beat a multi-use product 🙂 I love the L’Oreal primer it’s so fab for such a high street product 🙂
