OPI Infinite Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish

OPI Infinite Shine Gel Effect Nail Polish (2)

When it comes to nail polishes, I’m always looking for a gel effect finish without the hassle and expense of a gel manicure. And it seems quite a few brands now have their own range of gel polishes that don’t need to be set under a UV lamp. I’ve tried and loved the Barry M version and I know Max factor have their own range as well, but I’d not seen a higher end nail brand bring out their own one until now that is.

As part of the OPI Infinite Shine range you need to use their primer (step 1), lacquer (step 2) and gloss (step 3). Like with most polishes you start with your base coat, which is their primer. Once you’ve applied a thin layer all over the nail, you move onto step 2 and apply two thin layers of the lacquer. I picked up this gorgeous grey colour – Steel Waters Run Deep. During step 2 you need to use the polish to cap your nail, this will stop chips from appearing and help prolong the wear of the polish. And then finish with a thin layer of the gloss (step 3).

I really like OPI polish in generally, and this formula doesn’t feel too different to their regular polishes. It does appear shinier though. Which is obviously a big plus point!

OPI claim that if applied correctly the polish will last for 10 days, which is impressive! Unfortunately, I’m yet to find a polish that can last that long. But I did find the OPI Infinite Shine lasted a good 5 -7 days on my nails before I had to remove the polish and start again. Which I’m OK with. I tend to change my polish twice a week anyway.

I’ve had a little search around and I’m not sure if this has launched yet in the UK. I picked up the three polishes at an airport but you can order them from Nail Polish Direct.

Have you tried this yet? Do you rate gel effect nail polishes?

I love anything to do with nail polishes! I need to try these out as I have only used the Sensationail Gel polish kit so it will be interesting to try one that doesn’t use a UV lamp! I love the colour you choose, I havent got one like that in my collection..yet! lol x

I’ve tried Barry M’s gel range and they seem quite good but it still doesn’t stay on for as long as I’d like. I’ve never used OPI before, mostly because I like all my bottles to match so I’ve stuck with Barry M, but I recently bought their matte topcoat. I tried it on in the store and it seemed better than a few others I’d tried so I’m going to assume they had a similar success with the gel range! Love the grey color 🙂

Steel Waters Run Deep looks lovely! I haven’t used any of the gel effect polishes yet, but this does sound great x

This polish sounds great! My nail polish always chips within a day or two. 🙁

That is such a lovely colour I love greys. I get permanent pink and white gel done on my nails as I always go for a french manicured look. I only have to get mine re-done every 5-6 weeks so for me it’s worth it. x

I’m tending to gravitate towards gel finishes now. I can’t justify getting my nails professionally done very often (although would love to!) but I love the finish so am always looking for a new at-home gel product. This colour is very pretty! I’m glad OPI are doing this now
