Now I don’t know about you, but I definitely haven’t been feeling like myself over the past couple of months. With the uncertainty of what is happening in the world, coupled with the fact that with nowhere to go and spending my days working from home. I really haven’t felt like myself. I know lockdown has been really hard on us all, and my situation could have been a lot worse, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s taken a while to feel like myself again. Believe me, I’m incredibly thankful that I’m healthy. That I’m still in a job. And now the hairdressers and salons have reopened I can finally start to at least look like me again. But this summer is vastly different from the one I had planned. And that’s tough. So here are three things that are helping my post lockdown glow up.
KEEP ON MOVING

I think we’re all a little guilty of piling on the quarantine pounds, well I certainly am anyway! And while I haven’t beat myself up about it. I mean we are in a global pandemic after all, with far more important things to be focusing our time and attention on. I have realised that getting out and about for my 10,000 steps every day does do wonders for my mood. And all those endorphins really do help to make me feel confident in my skin. My routine, while I’m working from home, is to get out for two walks a day. Sometimes three. It just depends on how many biscuits I’ve eaten that day! But usually, I try to get out for a walk before work. Then again at lunchtime. And sometimes after work too.
FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT
I think most of us can agree that we all feel a little more confident with a tan. I certainly do. But with my summer holiday plans to be in the South of France are now cancelled. And no upcoming holidays booked. The chances of getting a natural tan aren’t looking likely. So I’m bringing the South of France to me and faking that St Tropez glow with fake tan. It’s the next best thing and best of all it means I don’t actually have to sit in the suns for hours. And in true South of France fashion, I opt for the St Tropez Purity Bronzing Water Gel. Mainly because I’ve found it to be one of the easiest fake tans to use. It doesn’t have that traditionally fake tan smell. It’s streak-free thanks to the gel formula. And the medium tan gives me the golden glow I love.
And for the face, I use the St Tropez Self Tan Purity Bronzing Water Face Mist. Again, I love it because of how easy it is to use. There really is no traditional fake tan smell. It doesn’t streak. You literally just spritz this on your face, neck and chest area and then wait for the golden glow develop. It really is my favourite fake tan for face.
DRESS UP EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE

I think one of the things I’ve really struggled with is how just staying at home. And working from home in gym wear, or comfy clothes has really affected my confidence. Although my office environment isn’t super formal. My weekly routine has always been to get up, put makeup on, do my hair and get dressed for a day at the office. And I’ve really missed that. So now I’m back in the habit of planning my outfits the night before. And making a real effort to wear much more of my wardrobe. Yes, my Sweaty Betty gym leggings are incredibly comfy. But I just feel more confident and more like me, if I’m in jeans and a shirt. Or a midi dress.
So these have been the three things that are helping me with that post lockdown glow up. How are you finding things post lockdown? What are you doing to boost your confidence and help you feel more like yourself again?

I love all these suggestions, I must admit I noticed yesterday I am getting a slight skin colour by being out and about more. I also agree about dressing up as it really does make you feel good about yourself
OMG I have piled on the pounds too. Trying to do walks with the kids is more stress than it’s worth sometimes. I’m trying to do a minimum of 10,000 but not always succeeding.
I am loving those Converse! I think my eldest daughter would love a pair of those too!! I am madly into exercise which hasn’t changed during lockdown. I just love how it improves my mental health.
I am loving your look and your face is glowing! I love Boots and shop there often so would need to look up St Tropez Face Mist when I am there next to do my shopping
Even with what’s going on its still great to make an effort and dress up etc, you look very pretty in the outfit,
Great article Steph.
Really resonated. Also treating myself to a nice walk or a new tan pick me up. Thanks for the share!
Yes yes yes ! Honestly I have been stuck in a rut and these have been an absolute life saver for me . Even if it’s raining we’ve been getting out with the little ones jumping in the puddles!
Great tips and I agree, I always feel better with a little bit of a tan. I’m also trying to get outt for exercise, playing tennis, a few times a week which makes me feel much happier.
LOVE this! there are some great tips here and yes I have made sure that I make the effort to dress up once in a while as it makes you feel good x
To be honest, just keeping busy for me has helped me glow up, we’ve been renovating a house and moving so that’s been enough to keep me busy x
I love your converse!! We have continued with the daily walks and it has really helped the kids moods, as well as my waistline
You look gorgeous and love these three simple tips. Loving the trainers too oh and fake it till you make it – always
Always find happiness in small things. Happy to read your post.
