11 reasons why I'm not qualified to be an adult | Merry Musing

Now I don’t know about you. But growing up, I always thought that there would just come a time when I’d feel like an adult. You know, feel responsible, know what I was doing with my life and have my shizz together. I thought it would happen at 18, it didn’t. I was a naive teen heading to Uni thinking I knew everything but the reality was I knew nothing. It didn’t happen at 21 either. I was still at Uni and only just starting to realise how little I really knew about the world and what it meant to be an adult. And you know what, I still didn’t feel like an adult at 30. Despite climbing the career ladder and having the normal adult responsibilities of you know, surviving and paying bills. I still didn’t feel like I was qualified to be an adult.

I still feel like a teenager in my head. But don’t we all? Anyway, just for fun, here are 13 reasons why I’m really not qualified to be an adult

  1. I’m only responsible for my self, and even then I question how I’ve survived this long
  2. When I don’t know what to do, I always turn to an adultier adult to find the answer
  3. It freaks me out that to some people I am an adultier adult
  4. I still expect an easter egg and advent calendar from my parents
  5. I think it’s perfectly acceptable to have crisps and dip for dinner, multiple times a week
  6. Bills, mortgages and insurance documents confuse me
  7. I still waste a good 40 minutes just sitting on my bed in my towel playing on my phone after a shower
  8. My diet can best be described as ‘unchaperoned child at a birthday party’
  9. I could do with a daily afternoon nap
  10. I struggle to get through the day without snacks
  11. I’ve not learnt the art of a capsule wardrobe, I either dress like I’m going to a red carpet event, or like I’m a homeless drug addict. There is no inbetween.

Let me know in the comments whether you feel qualified to be adult or not.
