Three curling wands to try

3 curling wands to try

When it comes to my hair, I feel like I’ve finally found a style that suits me. After abusing my hair with straighteners for years, I’ve finally realised that my hair not only looks better with a curl, but it actually hold the style a lot longer. Which is why I thought I’d share with you this post today. So if you’re in the market for a new curling wand or just want to try a different style, then here are three curling wands to try.

GHD Curve Soft Curl Tong £120 from GHD

3 curling wands to try

This is my newest curling wand and since receiving it back in December I’ve been using it nonstop. It’s probably better suited to those with hair slightly longer than mine but I love the soft curl look you can create with this wand. As expected with all GHD products, this curling wand really does perform. It’s easy to use, looks great and most importantly makes my hair look good.

Although you can’t change the heat settings on this wand, it definitely heats up incredibly quickly and curls my hair in rapid time. The curls seem to hold in place for most of the day and one of my favourite features of this is the cool sound it makes when you switch it on, and then when it’s hot enough. I used this recently in my everyday haircare routine video so if you want to see exactly how I created this look, you can watch the video here.

Vida Sassoon Infra Radiance Curler £29.99 from Boots

One of the things that I love about this curler is that it is a standard clamp curler, which is the style that I favour. I just find it makes it a lot easier to curl my hair. The 25mm barrel and the seven heat settings also help you achieve the curl you want. From softer waves at a lower heat to bigger curls at the higher heat setting.

The design of this curler is pretty slick. The red and black work well together and once plugged in, the lights flash while it’s heating up, which probably happens in around 12-15 seconds, which is impressive. Plus this curler has to be one of the lightest curlers I’ve used in the past. It’s not that my other curlers have been really heavy but this is considerably lighter in comparison. These curlers also have a handy built in stand that allows them to stand upright.

I find when using this curler, I tend to get softer waves that could be tighter depending on the heat setting you choose to you.

Babyliss Curling Wand Pro £24.99 from Boots

Now normally I don’t like conical curling irons. I feel comfortable a clamp on the iron, and the risk of me burning myself is very high with these. But I think I’ve had a breakthrough. Not only is the BaByliss Curling Wand Pro so easy to use, but it also comes with a very handy heat proof glove. Hallelujah.

Using a wand like this is different to using a regular curling iron with a clamp. Mainly because you hold the iron at a downward angle, and wrap the top of the hair at the widest part working down until the ends are at the small tip end of the wand. I love that the wand has four heat settings taking you from 165 degrees right up to 210. As my hair already has a natural wave in it, it doesn’t need a lot of heat to curl, so I tend to use the lower settings. I find when using this wand, I get quite tight curls that will slowly drop out but seem to last for ages.

Do you use a curling wand? What’s your favourite one to use?

Love the different looks you get from the different wands! I love using mine (although this post has reminded me that I have no idea where it is – some bedroom excavation needed!!)
