The Hand and Flowers

Now I don’t know about you. But I think foodie is a pretty accurate term to describe me. I mean, it’s pretty obvious I like my food. But rather than love super fancy food. I like good food done well. I’ve managed to eat my way around some amazing restaurants in London. But I’ve yet to eat in a michelin star restaurant. Until last week that is. When I headed down to Marlow to enjoy Sunday lunch at the UK’s only two michelin star pub, The Hand and Flowers.

Now you might have heard of the Hand and Flowers. It’s Tom Kerridge’s pub and if you fancy a six month waiting list, it’s well worth a visit! The place is beautiful, the food is outstanding and it just feels incredibly comfortable. Not at all pretentious or stuffy. Just brilliant ingredients, cooked simply to let the flavours shine.

So what did we eat? Well we started with the complementary fresh soda bread, butter and fried whitebait. Which was so good we asked for extra. We then moved onto the main. The majority of our table went for the treacle cured Chateaubriand with Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and Red Wine Sauce. Which was outstanding. But we did also order the Fish and Chips with Tartare Sauce. Which looked amazing. And I’m assured tasted amazing too.

And then it was time for pudding. Now despite the fact the plates didn’t look full to the brim. The food was so filling. But there’s always room for pudding, right? Of course there is! I went for my absolute favourite, Vanilla crème brulee. Which was probably one of the tastiest I’ve ever eaten. But we did also order the Pineapple and Coconut Soufflé with Saffron ice cream. Which I was again assured tasted amazing.

Overall, this was probably the tastiest Sunday Lunch I’ve ever eaten in a pub. Despite having to wait three months for a table. It was well worth the wait. I’m already tempted to put myself back on the waiting list.

The Hand and Flowers

What do you think of the Hand and Flowers? Have you ever been? Would you want to go?

Bryanna took the words right out of my mouth, creme brulee is gorgeous, I could eat bucket loads. The food looks great but a six-month waiting list, wow, must be pretty amazing.

Wow, I’m not surprised that the waiting list for this place is so long, everything looks utterly delicious! The creme brulee looks especially good, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to resist that on the dessert menu!

What a stunning looking meal! That’s my kind of food that – despite coming from a non-wealthy background I’ve acquired a taste for the finer foods in life lately – I HAVE to visit there next time I’m in London! Beautiful!
