Paying it forward as a blogger

Now I don’t know about you. But with the Instagram algorithm changing, ongoing Twitter spats and dwindling engagement. It’s a tough online world out there us bloggers. But there’s also huge potential to do good with our platforms. Now I’m sure most of you are aware of the term paying it form. But essentially it’s responding to a person’s kindness to yourself by passing that kindness on and being kind to someone else. Now this is obviously a great philosophy to live by in real life. But as bloggers, we can also do this more online. Which is why I wanted to share with you all ways I’m planning on paying it forward as a blogger.

10 WAYS TO PAY IT FORWARD AS A BLOGGER

  1. Share ‘Follow Friday’ shout outs on both Twitter and Instagram
  2. Reach out to someone who always comments on your blog and let them know how much their support means to you and if you can. Send them a little gift as a thank you
  3. Regularly give away goodies to your readers as a thank you for their support
  4. Offer to help spread the word about a fellow blogger’s competition or sponsored work
  5. Open your blog up to smaller blogger’s by inviting them to guest post on your blog
  6. Spend 30 minutes a week commenting on other people’s blog posts letting them know why you love their posts as much as you do
  7. Like people’s content on Instagram. It literally takes seconds to heart a fellow blogger’s picture on Instagram. So get liking!
  8. Join in the weekly Twitter chats in the blogging community. It’s a great way to share information and find new, amazing bloggers to follow
  9. If you’re a wiz with a camera offer to take outfit shots for your local blogging besties
  10. And finally, why not share some of your blogging ‘secrets’ in a series of blog posts so others can benefit from your knowledge

What do you think of the concept of paying it forward as a blogger? Do you like my suggestions of how I can pay it forward as a blogger?

Stephanie, the blogging world needs more people like you! I have so much love for this post! I think it’s brilliant that you’ve thought of so many supportive ideas, I have bookmarked this post so that I can return to it in future!

I have recently started putting a lot more effort into Instagram, not necessarily my own content but engaging with others! I spend a little while on there every day, liking, commenting, and replying to people’s stories just to give them a little boost! It costs me nothing but it’s such a lovely way to spread a bit of positivity!

Instagram is such an easy one to be able to help people with isn’t it, RTing things on twitter is an easy way to help too 🙂 I’m pretty good at Pinterest so I try and help people with that where I can even if it’s just pinning friends content.

I think giving away goodies as a thankyou is a really good thing to do as a blogger

I think this is a wonderful idea and I wish more people would adopt it. Blogging has become a very ‘take without giving’ kind of world and I wish we could return to times when there was a bit more reciprocity.

This is such a lovely post. Paying it forward in blogging (and all of life) is something we all should be doing more of. I use guest posts if I’m away but never thought of just opening them out to help smaller bloggers, great idea!

I love this!! I’m really trying to pay it forward, it’s easy to forget how much a comment or a like means to a blogger.

Great ideas! It’s the simple things that really make a difference especially a like or comment: its so simple yet shows so much moral support.
