New Year's Resolutions Update

Pinch punch first of the month! It’s finally February and exactly a whole month since I started my New Year’s Resolutions. Now as usual, my resolutions were to improve my fitness and address my diet. I started to regularly go to the gym last January, and while I’ve been pretty consistent with that. I haven’t seen amazing results with my body. So this January, I decided to address my food as well. And for the past four weeks, I’ve been following the Slimming World plan.

Now this isn’t my first time trying Slimming World. I’ve done it before on and off over the years. Always losing between 7 – 14lbs, getting bored and complacent and ending up putting it back on again. I actually joined Slimming World last May. And did well getting my half a stone award pretty quickly. My stone award took longer and I didn’t get that until October. And from then I just seemed to gain and lose the same few lbs week in week out. Which left me at the end of the year with a total weight lose of 10lbs. Which is pretty embarrassing.

But I’ll admit I completely took my eye off the diet ball. I was too wrapped up in my new relationship to care about whether what I was eating was Slimming World friendly or not. I was just happy and enjoying going out for dinners and drinks. But I want to lose more. Ideally another two stone to take my total weight lose to 3.5 stone. I know the plan works, and when I follow it I lose weight. When I don’t follow it I put weight on again. What can I say, I’m greedy and love ‘bad’ food. But I’m ready to make some positive changes to my life and my attitude to my body. I’m honestly fed up with not being happy with what I see in the mirror. It’s time to make the changes and do something about it.

So at the start of the month I made a promise to myself. A promise to put myself first and do things for me. And that included going to the gym and following the Slimming World plan. Now trust me, there were times when I didn’t want to do it. When all I wanted was a takeaway and to skip the gym for an extra hour in bed. And I won’t lie. I did slip up a few times. But at the end of the month, I can proudly say I’ve lost 10lbs, bringing my total weight lose to 20lbs. Which means I’m just 28lbs away from target.

And I know I can do it. I’ve got a holiday booked for May and I would love to be able to lose another two stone over the next three months. It won’t be easy. But I’m so happy with what I’ve achieved over this past month, that I know I can do it. And now I’ve written it down here for all to see. It’ll be pretty humiliating to have to tell you all that I didn’t do it! So wish me luck. And if you know of any great Slimming World blogs, please share them in the comments below. I need some food inspiration!

How have you got on with your New Year’s resolutions?

I’ve never once managed to keep going with a New Year’s Resolution… In fact, this year I didn’t even bother making one because I knew I would give up before the end of January, haha.

Good luck! You seem to be doing well. All need bad food once in a while, so don’t beat yourself up when you crave it I’m also trying to lose weight and have noticed a big difference from just reducing portion sizes x

Well done on getting back on the slimming world band wagon, I’ve only managed to lose a few pounds this month but I blame that on my birthday so I want to be better in Feb x

Well done on the weightloss! I know exactly how it feels, the need for sleep over going to the gym is huge! But I always feel much better about myself after I’ve gone. Well done and keep it up

I have just joined slimming world and I’m actually finding it really hard. I have had a lost but I find it difficult to find foods to eat that don’t take me hours to prepare. I really hope you achieve your goal and get to the weight you want to be, Good luck xx

So awesome that you are keeping up with your resolutions. The only resolution I made was to love others and not display hate. I am keeping up with that.

New relationships and eating well NEVER go hand in hand but resolutions are never meant to be easy and at least it’s something you’ve acknowledged. x
