Goodbye January

Goodbye January

Well, that’s it. What feels like the longest month EVER is over. And it’s time to say goodbye to January. Now, this January has actually been a really good month for me. Despite it feeling long, dark and cold, it was also the time for fresh starts and new beginnings. A time to reflect on the past year and re-evaluate what it is that I want to do with the next 12 months.

Now like most, I did start the New Year with big ideas and grand resolutions. And like most, they have fallen by the wayside. I think we can all agree that January was just a test month, right? Becuase I still have the big ideas and grand resolutions. It’s just that I actually feel more motivated to achieve them now, then I did at the start of the year.

So what have I achieved this month? Well, the biggie is that I started a new job. A job that is a big step up from what I was doing, but a challenge I’m excited to take on. It definitely feels like a proper grown-up job. A job that involves responsibility, strategy and a bit more purpose than just showing up and completing my to-do-list. I don’t know about everyone else but I have a bad case of imposter syndrome. It probably has something to do with the fact that I really don’t feel like a grown up in my head. I still feel like I’m 18, despite the fact that I’m 31. With responsibilities and shizz.

But apart from starting a new job, I also did a lot of shopping. The new role requires me to dress far more formal than my previous place. Which isn’t a bad thing. And it has been fun trying to find new workwear and finding my fashion feet at work. Keep your eyes peeled as these new looks will be popping up on the blog over the next couple of weeks. I’d love to do a mini-series and share some outfit inspiration with you all. If anyone would be interested?

And I think that’s it for this month. There were lovely catch ups with friends. A lot of life admin happening. And a BIG tax bill to pay – yay. But overall it’s been a far more positive month than I thought it would be. Here’s to a fun, positive and action-packed February.

Congrats, I am nine weeks in my job. Loving it but I think we all do get a case of imposter syndrome. Working with some amazing people as my peers and keep wondering when they will realise I don’t belong there!
