I’m a big fan of Urban Decays Primer Potion but whilst browsing Superdrug the other day, I noticed that MUA have their own version of an eye primer at only £2.50. So I had to pick it up to try and see if my beloved eye primer could be replaced by a much cheaper alternative.
Unlike the Urban Decay Primer Potion, the MUA Pro-Base Eye Primer comes in a mascara like tube with a doe foot applicator. Like the Urban Decay version, this primer is also beige in colour and has a creamy consistency that blends into a colourless cream when applied to the eyelids.
With both, you apply the primer underneath your eye make-up and the primer will prevent creasing of the eyeshadows, increasing the lasting power of your shadows.
So my verdict? While I do like the MUA version, I didn’t find it as good as the Urban Decay version. The MUA primer does help stop my eyeshadow creasing, but I didn’t feel that it helped my eyeshadows last as long as they do when I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion.
However, the MUA primer is £2.50 compared to Urban Decay’s primer which is £16, so for a sixth of the price, it’s not a bad alternative.
What do you think? Have you tried either product? Which is your favourite primer?

I’m a UB primer fan and actually have a ‘product fail’ post scheduled for next week on the Rimmel version which is as good as useless. I would always look for drugstore alternatives so I’m glad you’ve saved me some £££ in trying this out.

I do like this one, and use it as a good everyday primer and save my UD one for special occasions and nights out x
