Now long time readers of this blog might remember that back in January 2020 I updated my dressing room. When I first moved in, I had added wardrobes to half of the room. And wanted to dedicate the other half to a home office. The only issue was that I never used the desk in there. I had big dreams of working from there while working on my blog. But as this is an after work and weekend activity, I found I preferred working from the couch/bed/dinning room table over the dressing room. So I decided to sell my desk and get a chest of drawers instead. And then I started working from home, like the rest of world, two months later. But after working from home for almost two years, it was time for an office update.

The first thing was that the big chest of drawers needed to be moved from the office to the bedroom. Which I’m not sure why I didn’t do it earlier as they fit in there perfectly. Next up was getting a desk. Moving the chest of drawers into the bedroom meant that my old dressing table had to go. So the new desk needed to work as both a work station and a getting ready space that could house all my hair and beauty bits. Which wasn’t an easy find.

So it was Ikea to the rescue with the Alex draws and table top. The left hand side is for all the hair and beauty bits. And the right hand side is for work. I keep my personal macbook in there, all my notebooks, my sunglasses etc. Then on the top, I have the letter tray to keep the notebooks I use daily. My laptop riser and work laptop sites in the middle. And then on the left hand side is my mirror and makeup brushes.

And then because I was shopping in Ikea, I ended up buying lots of other decorative bits. Including these two shelves, the pink vase, the faux plant (because all my plants are faux). And then one additional purchase that wasn’t a decorative item is the new acrylic chair. Which I love, but on reflection, not comfiest chair to sit in while working from home.
So those are all the office updates. What do you think of the new space? I have to to admit that I love having somewhere other than my dinning room to work in.
