Regular readers of this blog will know that I like to paint my nails. I like to experiment with different colours, nail art and effects. What I don’t like is spending an hour painting my nails for them to chip within 24 hours. Or sooner. This is something I really don’t like. And having tried my fair share of different polishes, base coats and top coats, I’m yet to find one that actually keeps my nails chip free for a good few days. Which is why I was very interested in trying the much hyped and award winning Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.

According to the packaging, the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is able to penetrate through the nail lacquer to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate. This helps to prevent the polish chipping or peeling off. Sounds impressive right? Well I had to put it to the test.

I painted my nails using the Essie top and base coat, and then applied two coats of Essie Bahama Mama and then use Seche Vite as my top coat. The top coat does dry incredibly quickly, it was touch dry within minutes though it does have a strong industrial smell associated with it. Initially it made my nails looks glossy and shiny but within a day they had chipped. However, I then decided to add some glitter over the top of my nails and reapply a second coat of the top coat. I’m not sure if it was the glitter, or if it was because I used more of the top coat this time but my nails stayed chipped free for a whole seven days. SEVEN DAYS! This is seriously impressive for me.

I’ve since used this a few more times and I think to get the best results you need to apply a pretty thick layer of the top coat to really seal in the polish. It’s now my go to top coat.

The Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat is available from Feel Unique for £9.85.

Have you tried this top coat before? What’s your favourite top coat to use?

I’m not a nail enthusiast but I know someone who is so I will have to pass this post on to her.

    It looks great though.

I’ve been meaning to try this for a while but I’ve just never gotten round to it. Woah, 7 whole days? My nail polish never lasts that long, amazing! 🙂

This sounds great! I’ve been using Sally Hansen’s quick drying top coat but it still chips a fair bit. I’ll definitely need to try this one! x

I hear nothing but good things about this! I always get my nails done at the salon so rarely do them at home but I still want to buy this! x

I like Seche Vite but don’t love it. Fantastic for smartening up a dodgy paint job but it doesn’t particularly extend the wear of my nail polishes. I’ve been using a top coat from eyeCandy which is fantastic.
