If you haven’t jumped on the Fitbit wagon yet, chances are you know someone who has. It seems the fitness tracker trend is huge, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. I bought my FitBit Charge 2 back in December 2016 and I haven’t looked back. For me, it’s probably one of the most useful and fun things I’ve bought myself. And if you’re debating whether to get one or not, here are the six reasons you need a FitBit in your life:
BEING ACCOUNTABLE
One of the best things about the FitBit is that you can set your own health and fitness goals. But what’s more, is that Fitbit cheers you on to achieve those goals. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t like leaving things incomplete. So when you log into the FitBit app you can see how close you are to achieving your goals, which in turn motivates you to do more to see all the bars turn green. It’s honestly addictive.
GET MOVING
One of the other things that happens when you get a FitBit, is that you get a bit obsessive about getting in all your steps. You find yourself going out of your way getting in the extra steps so you can make the rockets go off. Which if you don’t have a FitBit might sound a little odd. But it’s what happens when you reach 10,000 steps in a day.
BETTER FOOD CHOICES
I’ve used the MyFitnessPal app before but never found myself sticking to it. But Fitbit has a section on the app where you can input your food choices and count your calories. Now while I don’t tend to count calories. It does encourage me to make better food choices as no-one likes to see a list of ‘bad’ food!
GET HEALTHY
One of the unexpected things that have happened since getting a FitBit, is that I’ve made a conscious effort to get my heart-rate down. I wasn’t aware that it was high. And maybe it isn’t that high. But it’s something I wanted to lower. And since getting the FitBit, I’ve managed to lower it by 10 beats through increasing the amount of exercise I’ve done.
THERE’S SUPPORT
Another great thing about the FitBit is that you can connect with your friends and cheer each other one to achieve their goals. But what you can also do, which is probably more fun, is take part in challenges with each other. After all, who doesn’t want to win a competition?
IT’S MANAGEABLE
I think the best thing about getting a FitBit is that it’s made moving, exercising and eating a bit healthier all the more achievable. And manageable. You just have to take it one step at a time.
You can find a great (and cheap) selection of Fitbits here.
