The anything but ordinary skincare

The Ordinary Skincare

Now I don’t know about you, but sometimes skincare can be confusing. Not only are there hundreds of products out there, all claiming to work miracles on our skin. But we’re led to believe that the more we pay for skincare, the better it will be, right? Well not necessarily. Thanks to the introduction of The Ordinary, Deciem are turning the skincare world on its head by priding themselves on honesty and integrity in producing effective skincare without the expensive price tag. And they’ve certainly made a huge impact since their launch last year. I don’t know many beauty lovers or beauty obsessives like myself, who haven’t been excited by this brand.

They’re bringing high-quality ingredients to the market but at an incredibly affordable price. And I’m obsessed! I just wish I’d been able to get my hands on this brand sooner. But I was lucky enough to visit their new shop over in Spitalfields for the Really Ree Contributor party the week before last. And what an experience that was! Made all the more special by the amazing goody bag we received, which was full of products from The Ordinary.

And if that wasn’t enough, we were even able to shop the whole store with a special discount! Now I have to say that although the labelling can be a little confusing, I cannot praise or thank the staff in the shop enough. They really know their skincare stuff! And it helps that they love the products. The Ordinary is really marketed towards the informed beauty and skincare obsessive. You have to really know your skin and what you want, to get the most about of these products. So here’s what I picked up from The Ordinary:

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% £8

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%

Now having heard so much about the brand, I knew this was one of the products I really wanted to try. And I’ve not been disappointed! Now you may have heard of retinoids before but consider this a supercharged version. Although this is an incredibly lightweight serum, it definitely packs a punch when it comes to fighting the common signs of ageing. It targets everything from fine lines and wrinkles to uneven skin tone in a gentle manor. Leaving your skin with a youthful bounce and a radiant glow. You can get it here.

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution £6.80

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution

I feel like toning can be an underrated part of your skincare routine. But it’s definitely a step that shouldn’t be missed. And for less than £7, this toning solution is better than some I’ve tried at five times that price! With the added benefit of glycolic acid, this toning solution offers your skin a mild exfoliation. Which works to boost radiance while restoring clarity for your skin. And with a mix of gingseng and aloe vera, although it is an ‘acid’, it’s also incredibly gentle on your skin. You can get it here.

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% £5

Now if you have oily skin like me, then this is a miracle potion you’ve been searching for. Trust me. This potent serum targets breakouts minimises pores and decongests your confused complexion by regulating your sebum production. Hallelujah! As Niacinamide and Zinc are two of the most effective blemish-battling ingredients around, this leaves your skin softer, smoother, and just generally healthier. You can get this here.

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution £6.30

Now you might have seen this bright red potion on your Instagram of late. In fact I’m surprised you’ve not seen it on mine. As I’m obsessed with this. It’s one of the few products I’ve tried where I’ve seen an almost instant result. It just gives my skin an instant boost when it’s looking tired and lacklustre. The Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs) work to exfoliate your skin’s outer layer for a brighter and more even appearance. While the beta hydroxyl acids (BHAs) work to exfoliate the skin on a deeper level to clear any pore congestion. This one does come with a warning though, so make sure you read the instructions and keep out of the sun! You can get this here.

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil £9

Now this really is a multi-purpose product. With a pure Moroccan Argan Seed oil formula, this oil is rich in fatty acids, vitamins and carotenes. Which together combine to deliver hydrating and nourishing properties for your skin, hair, lips and nails. You can get it here.

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 £5.90

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5

Now I’m sure most of us have heard about hyaluronic acid. But I’m also pretty sure, you won’t have found it at such a low price tag. But if you’re looking for incredibly hydrated skin that looks and feels smoother and plumper. Then this is the product for you! The oil-free formula penetrates deep into your skin’s layer to deliver intense hydration that lasts throughout the day. And as it’s enhanced with vitamin B5, it also leaves your skin softened and strengthened. You can this here.

Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% £5.50

The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

Now this gel really surprised me. I’m not sure why really. Having tried everything else, I knew I’d love it. But I probably didn’t realise how much I would love it! It’s a multi-function gel that brightens the overall appearance of your skin. While also improving your skin’s texture. And I love it! My blemishes and uneven pigmentation is visibly reduced. And now it’s part of my routine, I don’t want to ever stop using it. You can get this here.

What do you think of The Ordinary? Have you tried any of their products yet?

The Niacinamide & Zinc is my absolute favourite skincare product right now. It’s really helped to clear up my skin. The Peeling solution sounds great, going to have to get me a bottle of it x

I’ve heard of this brand before but never realised what each product actually did. I would probably buy the Azelaic Acid Suspension as it sounds great and a good price actually

I’m ashamed to admit I honestly haven’t tried anything from this brand yet! I keep seeing it all over different blogs though. The peeling solution sounds like something I’d try, I’m so surprised at how cheap these are.

This is the second time I’ve read about this brand. The gel sounds so much more wonderful than what I use for my blemishes. I will have to try this out.

Sounds like a really cost effective, non frills product and sometimes luxury items aren’t always the best.

It’s a new product to me, but I do like a good recommendation from someone that has tried and tested. I do find the market rather jam packed with this, that and everything, and never know what to go for. Friends are usually the guidance. Having staff there to help in the shop must be very useful, I know I would appreciate it. The ordinary skincare looks like a range that are designed to suit your needs, and I like that a lot. Worth looking out for.
