Travel Bug

I’ve well and truly caught the travel bug. I’ve booked to go to Lille in May and then I’m off to Portugal a few weeks later in June. But I want to get more places booked in. If possible I’d love to try and plan a trip every month this year. Obviously these can’t all be big holidays but even if I can squeeze in a few weekends away I’ll be happy. I love having things to look forward to and I’m very much a planner. So where’s next on my list?

Well somewhere that has been on my list for some time now is Singapore. I’ve only ever been to the Far East once and that was to Thailand around four years ago. But since then I’ve wanted to return and explore more of this part of the world.

Singapore is top of the list for so many reasons. For starters it may sound odd but I really want to visit their airport. I’m being serious! Singapore’s Changi Airport has a Green Market airport lounge which looks amazing – think magical garden but inside the airport. How much more relaxing would travelling be if you could spend your time in a garden like environment before boarding a flight?

For fellow foodies like me Singapore has to be one of the most popular destinations in Asia for food lovers. With street food and hawker stalls as well as fine dining restaurants there really is something for everyone. Plus the shopping there is amazing! Plus you can take advantage of the tax-free shopping by getting to claim the 7% VAT back – which means you can spend even more!

But aside from the food and shopping, Singapore is also home to some amazing sights to see. With a mix of old and modern architecture, it’s a diverse place to visit. From the architectural wonder that is the Helix Bridge to the traditional Malay Houses and Chinese Temples, I can’t wait to experience Singapore’s culture first hand.

I’ve already checked flights on Singapore airlines and I can get a return ticket for less than I thought, which has just added to the temptation of wanting to get a holiday to this amazing place booked ASAP. Especially if I can get a room at the Singapore Flyer – it as a 150 meter long rooftop infinity pool – how amazing does that sound?

If you’ve been to Singapore I’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments. If not, let me know of some of your favourite places to go for weekends away.

Hi Lovely, do you think it possible that I could some how squeeze my way into your suitcase? I’m quite small (4ft10) and I can easily fit, I won’t be any bother. Yup Singapore is on my list as well, in face the whole Asia, the far east is on the VERY top of my list. I need to win the lottery pronto. xx
