What a difference a year makes

Merry Musing

It’s the first of January. And a Monday. It’s time a new year. A new chapter. And a fresh start. But rather than look ahead at 2018 and how I can be a better human being. You know, by going to the gym more. Cutting back on drinking and takeaways. Be kinder. Save money. I wanted to reflect on the past 365 days. And what a difference a year makes. This time last year, I was 11 days into my 30’s. And I had no idea how amazing that first year of this milestone decade would be.

And now I’m 11 days into the second year of my 30’s, and I still can’t believe how amazing last year was. But already 2018 feels different. I feel like I might have said this before, but 2018 is going to be my year. This will be the year that all the months of hard work and planning will come to fruition. I’m starting a new job in a couple of week’s and for the first time, in a long time, everything feels incredibly settled.

I feel content with what’s happening in my life. And excited for the year ahead. It will be a BIG year for many reasons. I’m moving ahead and taking a big leap in my career. I’m bridesmaid at my brother’s wedding. I actually have a holiday booked. A new car is on the horizon. As is my first home. Things are definitely looking up.

Which is amazing considering I felt like 2017 was the best year yet. A year that saw me reach milestones that I thought were unattainable. Achieve blog goals that I thought were unrealistic. And succeed in the personal goals that I set myself. Hitting my 30’s really did give me a new found confidence and contentment that I hadn’t appreciated that I needed. And now that I have it, I’m ever more excited for what 2018 will bring.

What are you most looking forward to achieving this year?

Happy New Year – I’m taking it easy this year and trying to ‘seize the day’ a bit more. Life’s too short, isn’t it?
