We’re well into January now and if like me one of your New Year’s resolutions was to focus more on you, then I have the perfect post for you all. After all, what’s better for you than having fun? If you’re having fun, then you’re happy. And if you’re happy, then your focusing on yourself and ensuring you have a good time. So if you’re not sure what might make you happy this year, or your just looking for fun things to do. Then here’s my list of 17 fun things to do in 2017:
- Be a tourist in your own city. Or visit your nearest big city and be a tourist there for a day.
- Try a sport that you’ve never done before. Or challenge yourself to compete in something like a Park Run or 10K.
- Start a blog and document all the fun things you get up to this year.
- Take a trip to a place you’ve never been before. What’s more fun than ticking off a place on your bucket list?
- Try a new recipe once a month.
- Feel like a 12 year old again and go and visit a theme park.
- Start a scrapbook or project life book, and work on adding more memories and pictures to it from your adventures this year.
- Take time out for yourself and read a book, or 12.
- Challenge yourself to try something new every week.
- Spend the day at your local Zoo or Wildlife Park.
- Get your photographs printed and make a gallery wall.
- Bake something new.
- Have a good clear out, and then make some money by selling it on Ebay or at a carboot.
- Visit an old friend who you’ve not seen in a while.
- Go for ice cream at least once every 10 days.
- Have a cultured afternoon and visiting an art gallery.
- Invite your friends round and host an indoor picnic.
What do you think of this list? What else would you add to it?

I don’t really do resolutions, but i think a list of fun things to do this year is fantastic. All the best
Living in London, being a tourist in my own city is one of my favourite things to do! I’ve resolved to do one new free thing in the city a week, to help me save a bit of cash AND enjoy everything London has to offer. I’ve actually had my clear out too, now to get round to eBaying it…!
Great post and you have listed things I really want to implement in my own resolutions for 2017. I really need to embrace the area I live in as well as a barely know it
Some great ideas for making 2017 more fun, I like the ice cream one 😛 Sophie x
I’m scrap booking this year! My best friend made one for me as a Christmas present but only filled in half the book, I’m filling in the other half. Going for an ice cream every ten days sounds like something I can get behind too!
Decided not to make resolutions this year but instead a bucket list! Well, more like a 2017 list so I loved this post! I am in the process of choosing more photos to have printed and I am definitely going to plan to read more!
I want to go to Harry Potter World this year, which is both fun and something I have never done x
I want to visit cadbury world this year and also said i would make better choices re food etc but i havent made any resolutions as such!
I like number 6! I need to do this.
My suggestion would be to go somewhere off the track, don’t take mobile or any such thing, and properly switch off for the day. Does you wonders.
I like the idea of becoming a tourist in your own city because if you live somewhere you often miss out on all the tourist attractions!
I am loving this list, definitely would love to try one recipe a month, how cool would that be!!
Love this list, I agree with ice-cream every 10 days haha. I definitely need to hit up a theme park this summer x
Such a great list of things to do in 2017. Travelling is high on my list.
I love an indoor picnic, I think this is a fab list of ideas for what to do! H x
Sounds like some brilliant fun things too do, I need to get ice cream more often
i love the idea of trying out a new recipe every month. i always stick to the same old stuff
I did the tourist in my city thing last year and I discovered so much of Manchester that I hadn’t seen before.
Start a scrapbook is something I’ve started doing in 2017 also!
What a lovely list of suggestions – I hope you manage to work your way through lots of those!
I love the idea of the ice-cream every 10 days. What a great positive list. Hope your year turns out to be a great one!
What a great little post! I have never thought about being a tourist in my own area, however there is loads to do near my but I never take advantage. I am currently coming up with a little mini “bucket list” of things I want to do this year. xx
I really love all in the list! I need to do this and I feel so guilty I don’t have a time to myself and to my family I want to experience reading book again without thinking about my pending works.
Going for ice cream once every 10 days is the best idea – goodbye January diet!
