Now I don’t know about you. But while I would usually make a big list of everything I want to do in the New Year. From places to visit, to holidays I want to book. But I’m not doing that this year. If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that making plans is futile. Because you never know when a global pandemic will put your plans on hold. So instead of writing down all the places I want to visit this year. I’m simply going to share 21 things I want to achieve in 2021. Regardless of whether we’re still in a global pandemic or not.
- I want to continue with the daily walking (weather permitting) and aim to reach 10,000 steps a day, five times a week.
- Tto grow my Instagram. I know numbers are a vanity metric, but it would honestly make me so happy to see my account reach 10,000. If you want to support me and you don’t already follow me. Please follow me here.
- I want to strengthen my connections with my family and friends. During the past year I’ve really built stronger and deeper connections with those closest to me as we’ve tried to get through lockdown life. And I want those connections to grow and develop.
- I want to stop saving things for best. 2020 taught me that if you’re saving for best, then you might be waiting a long time. So let’s treat everyday like best and start to use that expensive moisturising cream.
- Save more money. I’m naturally a spender, although I can save when I need to. And working from home has allowed me to save so much. So I want to stop spending that extra money on handbags (we’ll see if I can stick to it) and save it instead.
- I also want 2021 to be the year that I improve my financial literacy and start looking at investing. Having multiple income streams feels like the norm at the moment, so I want investing to be one of my income streams.
- I want to pivot the blog again. As much as I love talking about lifestyle and money topics. I also want to include more fashion and luxury content. So get ready for another pivot.
- I want to watch less Netflix. I feel like I pretty much completed Netflix this year. And while I needed that at the time, I want to be more productive with my time this year.
- Read more. Both fiction and non-fiction books. I have a huge list of books to download onto the kindle but I never seem to have the time to actually read them. I want to read at least one book a month this year.
- Be a more adventurous cook. I’m not the best cook in the world and I seem to find myself cooking the same five recipes. I want this year to be the year that I expand on the cooking front.
- Add more luxury to my life. Now this might seem quite shallow, but I love luxury and would rather spend my money on pieces that will last longer, rather than embrace fast fashion that will be out of trend next season
- I want to practice gratitude more. I’m always trying to be grateful, but I want to go back to writing daily gratitude lists to remind myself how grateful I am for my life.
- Get away. Even if it’s not abroad (because who knows when the skies will re-open) but I’d like to get away for a break somewhere.
- Explore more locally. I didn’t get to do that last year, but I’m hoping this year I get to explore more of Hertfordshire.
- Spend time with friends and family. Like most people a lot of my plans didn’t happen last year, so I’m hoping this year I can spend more time with them in person. Rather than through a screen.
- Get a new car. Another slightly shallow achievement but there’s a particular car that I want to be mine this year.
- Learn a new skill. I’m not sure whether that’ll be developing my photography skill, or finally learning how to code and build websites. But I want to feel like I’ve achieved something big by the end of the year.
- Be present. I found I spent a lot of last year, wishing the year away. But I want to be more present this year, and to actually enjoy the moment.
- Continue to date. Yes I’ve had some disasters (you can read them here). But I don’t want to lose faith in finding love.
- I want to continue being content, happy and comfortable in my own skin. It’s been a long journey to get to this stage, but long may it continue.
- Move. Now this is really ambitious, and might be dependent on when this global pandemic ends, but I’d really like to move out of the flat and into a house this year. Fingers crossed all 21 things will happen!
So there you have it, the 21 things I want to achieve in 2021. What’s on your list to achieve this year?

I usually make a list of things I want to achieve in the new year but it does seem futile at the moment with everything changing so much.
What a great list. I love the “stop saving things for best”. That is something we all need to live by.
Good luck with everything in 2021. Wishing you all the best. x
