My 2018 blog goals

2018 is here! And what a year 2017 was. As you would have seen from my blog’s fifth birthday post, I started this blog as a place to combine my three passions – beauty, writing and photography. And while these passions are still the reason I blog. I do have big plans for 2018. I’ve spent the past year ensuring my home life, personal life and work life are succeeding, that I feel like I’ve neglected the blog a little. So for me, the main focus is the blog. And treating it like a business, setting goals and targets and measuring my success.

Now I know numbers aren’t the key to success (thank goodness!). But I still want to find ways to measure my goals and targets. And start setting a proper plan. Rather than just muddle along and hope the best. Which has been the strategy for the past five years. And while that’s served me well so far. I have bigger and better things planned for the year ahead.

And while for some people being a full time blogger might be the end goal. It isn’t for me. I’ve just landed my dream job after years of hard work and I’m not prepared to give it all up. For me the blog always has been, and hopefully always will be, the best hobby. But I still have goals that I want to achieve. Which is why I wanted to share them all with you all.

MOVE AWAY FROM BEAUTY

Now don’t panic. Although this blog started as a primarily beauty blog, it’s changed over the years. Mainly because I’ve changed. It’s not that I’m not obsessed with beauty anymore. I definitely am! But I worry that it’s getting to the stage where the content on this blog is driven by what arrives through the post box. And why I’m lucky enough to work with some amazing beauty brands and PRs. I want to ensure that in 2018, I’m only sharing with you the beauty products that you REALLY need to know about.

SHARE MORE OF ME

Know I’ve done pretty well with this one so far. 2017 was definitely the year that I showed you all more of me on here. I started working with Kaye to capture some beautiful shots to accompany my ramblings. And I don’t plan on stopping these. In fact, I want to share more of these kind of posts with you all. And also delve into the world of interiors, food and other fun lifestyle topics that are grabbing my attention at the moment.

GET SOCIAL

I think we can all agree that the changes to the Instagram algorithm are one of the worst things to happen in 2017. It meant a decrease in engagement for pretty much everyone. Unless you were one of those who bought bots to keep your engagement game strong… But for me, Instagram is still one of my favourite social networks. So while I won’t be saying goodbye to it. I am going to be making more of an effort with Instagram stories. And also Twitter and Pinterest. I tend to ignore both of these networks, but I really want to make more of an effort with them.

But I really wouldn’t be able to continue to do this if you lovely lot didn’t read my ramblings. So please let me know what you want to hear from me? What posts would you be interested in reading? Or which of my posts do you love to read the most? I want to hear your feedback!
